Zambezi Mubala Camp

Zambezi Mubala Camp’s Camping2Go tents follow the usual , well-equipped setup—everything from linen to wine glasses and even a coffee plunger is included. This camp also features mosquito nets around the bed and a more compact outdoor L-shaped kitchen/dining area. The tents are closer together here, more like a traditional campground, but the trade-off is the convenience—just steps from the pool, restaurant and riverside bar, no driving required. The bar is a great spot to catch the breeze and enjoy sunset views over the Zambezi river. Make the most of the location and book a sunset, fishing or bird-watching boat trip. A heads-up: curious monkeys tend to roam through in the afternoons and aren’t shy about climbing onto the fridge or opening the rubbish bin, so be sure to pack food away securely

Campsite 1 and 2 is river facing with sunset views over the Zambezi with campsites covered in grass. Private ablutions were neat and clean with hot and cold water. Gas is used to warm the water so warm water can be temperamental. Outside is a washing up area with a sink, hot and cold water and a single plug is available. Ants were a problem in the kitchen area. Wifi is available on the property but not great quality.

We were staying elsewhere and made a booking with Katharina to do a birding trip from Mubala. From the minute we arrived, much earlier than booked, to the time we left after sunset we were treated like full time guests by all the staff. Lunch was superb, drinks cold, and possibly one of the highlights of our 6-week trip through Namibia and Botswana was the birding trip on the Zambezi River with Jimmy, the guide.
