I last stayed at this hotel 10 years ago, when it was still named ”Regal International East Asia Hotel”. 10 years later, when I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel again, I was surprised that the hotel was more or less kept as the same, with a similar classy style and decor. Even the rooms looked the same! Although they were probably never renovated, the fixtures and fittings were kept in very good condition and the beds comfortable. It is located in a very classy and laid back part of Xujiahui, Shanghai which was part of the former french concession. I had a good stroll down Hengshan Road, and found that while it was tree-lined and as pretty as ever, there were more cafes and malls there now. The location is also very convenient, a short stroll away from Wukang Building, 5 mins walk to Hengshan Road station and 15mins drive from the bund. As I had just arrived from Chongqing, which is most definitely a second tier chinese city, I was taken aback by the good english spoken by the reception, which was much better than that in a similar 5 star hotel in CQ. The hotel staff all provided good service and were courteous. The room was large and I appreciated the work table, something that is not common in other hotels of similar price range. The toilet's design was a little strange though, as there was no real separation from the shower area and the sink(only had a glass door). While I didn't have the time to use the hotel's facilities, there was a large indoor swimming pool and a fully equipped gym-- with fitness instructors and classes. Very impressive.
The breakfast at the lobby restaurant was also good, with a good selection of hot food and bread, nothing to complain about.
I also loved taking a stroll in the garden behind the restaurant, where locals were exercising and the gentle winter breeze uplifted my mood greatly.
Overall, for the price paid, it is a good value for money hotel in Xujiahui, Shanghai, I love the hotel itself and the neighbourhood it is located in. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others and would definitely stay here again if I am back in Shanghai, China.

It was a great experience in there, Just if there could be a bit more English present ”(such as the Breakfast Menu) it would be more International traveler friendly.
The service was spot on.

Stayed here a week for a business trip, booked the king superior room. It was clean, the staff was kind and helpful, the location was great for me personally since I needed to be in the area. The noise cancellation could be better, but it wasn’t really an issue for me. Overall great find in Shanghai.

The hotel's location is favorable, situated within the city but away from the main tourist crowds. This suited us well, as we did not intend to use the subway during our trip. The room and facilities were satisfactory and offered good value for the price. We stayed in a family room with two medium-sized beds, which was adequate for our family of two young children. We particularly enjoyed the mall opposite the hotel and the numerous coffee shops nearby. While the staff cannot communicate in english, they were willing to provide assistance when requested; we utilized Google Translate for communication. However, we noticed a persistent smell of smoke in the room and corridor at night. We understand this is common in Shanghai, as we encountered similar odors in taxis, public restrooms, and other locations.

Firstly, you need to work hard if you arrive with luggages by metro, because the nearest metro Exit 2 is only have going down Escalator, but going up by stairs only. Secondly, it is on high trafic roads and its noisy all night when sleeping. Seem the window in our room also can't be shut up enough due to defective. We did not take breakfast because they only have A, B or C set menu but there are lots of foods nearby, so its not an inconvenience. Shower is good. Location is good for visiting near by sights, such as Zikawei Library, St Ignatius Cathedral, Wukang Building. IMO, its much better to stay at nearby Jianguo Hotel if the room rate is not much different even though we have not ever stayed at Jianguo Hotel.

Trust the Atour brand. This stay was a pleasant experience. This is a newly opened hotel in 25 years. The room is very clean, the decoration is simple and generous, the bedding has no peculiar smell, and the sleep is very comfortable. The Atour pillow is really amazing (I also use this pillow at home). When I left the hotel, the front desk also gave me two bottles of cold brew tea, which was thoughtful. The only drawback is that it is a little far from the subway station. Everything else is good. I will book this hotel next time I come to Shanghai.

I had serious concerns about security during my stay at this hotel. There was no safe box in the Business Sky room that I had booked, and housekeeping repeatedly left the emergency exit door by the elevators open throughout the day allowing unrestricted access to the guest floors via the back stairwell. Most seriously, on my last day my room door was left ajar and unlocked for the entire day while I was away. Moreover, the room was smaller than advertised and the reception I received upon arrival was unwelcoming. I arrived a few hours early from London and was treated rudely by the front desk because my room was not yet ready. It seemed I was then allocated an inferior room as a result which I feel was an unprofessional and regrettable experience. The eventually offered a 10% discount because of the open door incident but only after I involved a local rep who discussed the matter with the hotel and Ctrip customer service who were great!

The refinement of Shanghai is unattainable in other first-tier cities. It is considerate and self-contained, not noisy, not stubborn.
It is difficult to say that this hotel has the most Shanghai flavor, but it is indeed suitable for those who have just come to Shanghai to experience the exquisiteness.
The room has air conditioning, which is a device that cannot be found elsewhere.
The night light at the head of the bed, when turned on at night, has a different charm. I wanted a small orange light when I was a child, but I didn't expect to have the illusion of owning it here.
Open the curtain during the day. In the early morning, there is the so-called vitality. Go downstairs to buy traditional Shanghai flavors, and go upstairs to the small table next to the front desk. Even if the so-called rich lady glances at it, she doesn't care.
”The refinement of Shanghai is not the shackles of our travelers.”
Without breakfast, there is naturally no extra noise. Going to chase breakfast in a mighty way may be a different kind of tranquility for people like me who are used to wandering. It is better to go to the front desk bar to get two cups of coffee when you are tired than to get up early in a hurry to eat a meal that even a rabbit can't eat.
The prosperity of Shanghai is beautiful, but it is not something you can afford. Three meals a day, and you are penniless. Fortunately, the room rate is relatively cheap compared to the environment and the space of about 35 square meters, which makes a poor boy like me willing to pay.
I returned to my residence in the evening and fell asleep at 10 o'clock, but there was a hurried knock on the door. I opened the door and saw a big bucket. It turned out to be a midnight snack. The midnight snack doesn't need to be much, just a bowl of thick white rice porridge. Drink it, it's a milky dream.
It's a pity that the feng shui in the south of the Yangtze River is good, and the phoenix is not idle. The greenness of the mountains is the true heart. When I checked out, I saw a woman, who was enthusiastic but not deliberate, smiling but not attentive. Ask her, her name is Xiaoyu.
Xiaoyu...
Maybe I'm not Uncle Long...
I remember it.

GGuest UserEvery holiday, our family travels and stops in many places. It is rare that we are so satisfied that we are willing to take the time to write a review. First of all, the room is very clean and easy to live in; secondly, I have to praise the superior location. Turn left when you go out and you will see the Wukang Building. You will find Wukang Road and Anfu Road. It takes less than 20 minutes to walk to Xujiahui Academy and you will pass Jiaotong University along the way. It is also very close to the subway station, and the famous breakfast restaurant is right at the door. After staying for four days, I regretted not booking more days directly. It's quiet in the middle of the hustle and bustle, and you can easily cook and do laundry. It's really a good choice for family travel! The only slight regret is that the pillow was too high and too fluffy. My neck hurt after sleeping for a few days. But in fact, it is also my fault that I did not communicate with the landlord. As long as there is a need, the landlord will actively solve it. Anyway, thumbs up, see you soon!

Outstanding
GGuest UserHad a great stay here. A great place to stay if you are looking to get a feel of the local Shanghai vibes. It is nestled between some old local apartments, and the area is gated with its own security. You will barely see any tourists in the area, there are many shops, restaurants, mini markets, fruits and vegetable shops and even shops selling fresh fish nearby. There are also some very local massage shops nearby that provide very good massages for reasonable prices (there are also some luxury ones too if it suits your budget. The metro is short 10 minutes walk away, if you don't feel like walking its easy getting around with DIDI.
Overall, i loved staying in this neighbourhood!

GGuest UserVery good hotel, especially the service of the lady at the front desk is very good and gentle. She is very professional and enthusiastic. She also gave a small gift. I like it very much. The room is also very good, very clean, tidy, comfortable and bright. The room is very new and the decoration is very good. If there is a chance, I will choose their hotel next time. Children in need can rest assured to stay here.

Very Good
GGuest UserThe room was clean, the bed was a bit hard, and the staff were very attentive and proactive in helping! It is very convenient to stay near the subway station. I will consider staying here next time. There is also a rest area next to the lobby, where it is very comfortable to order takeout and have a midnight snack!
As it is close to the subway, there is inevitably some noise from the subway. Our room was far away from the door this time, which just reduced the noise impact.
It's a shame there's no elevator, but the staff will help carry your luggage upstairs!

GGuest UserIt belongs to the traditional hotel style. The room booked on Trip.com was too small. After arriving at the hotel, the standard room was increased.
