Had the best Sunday lunch ever. Beef was so tender, chicken and pork amazing too. My granddaughters ate every bite. It was very busy but the guys taking our orders were efficient and friendly. Bailey is the chef at the Thatch and what a chef. The food came out cooked to perfection. Hope Bailey gets the recognition he deserves.

The menu was really great lots of choices all sounded amazing. I decided on the ribs they were cooked perfectly and came with a tasty pineapple salad. Love the finger bowl always a nice touch. The staff where really helpful and friendly.

Didn’t contact me to say they couldn’t honour my booking at the weekend as they had “no bedsheets” and “restaurant closed”. Still took my money. Emailed, called them and went to get money back at the weekend but it was closed. Still chasing refund. Avoid at all costs.

Lovely pub/restaurant. Welcoming staff. Nice lunch /snack menu, with a large glass of red after a long journey was much needed. The beds were super comfy & the room was lovely, great shower, it had everything we needed. Great evening meal & breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay there again.

Went for a family birthday, for the Sunday lunch. As a vegan, I wasnt expecting much. How wrong I was. The food, although limited vegan choices on paper, was amazing. We both had kids Sunday lunch, due to health reasons, and the staff had no problem. The Staff had explained the parsnips had honey on, and they hadn't got vegan yorkies. When it arrived, the meal was piping hot and beautifully presented. Nut roast Wellington was clearly homemade, not just a microwave, premade serving. Toasties, roast carrots and chef had made parsnips in agave! Bonus points there.

Do not pay up front, Booked here in December for our 40th Wedding Anniversary, paid up front for 3 nights, only to arrive from Australia and discover the Thatched Cottage was closed for renovations. The last landlord had scarpered with our money. We didn't get to stay. Have started the process of attempting to recoup my funds.

We had a fabulous meal. Portions too big to finish and the best vegan option I’ve had in a very long time! I get so fed up with the standard bean burger or curry options in most restaurants so this was a refreshing change! Very friendly staff as well.

Apparently the landlord who took our money in January has done a runner. When we arrived we found the place being refurbished. Also others have been let down. We are now in talks with our bank etc. in an attempt to recover our money. Greene King own the property and their arrangement is with a tenant. Seemingly not enough due diligence or monitoring. Also have spoken to an organisation called “free to book” who operate a portal for such accommodations but they could not help. Don’t think of staying here, at least until the new landlord takes over.

This is a lovely place for meal in Shepton Mallet. There was a nice choice of options on the menu including children's meals. Our food was delicious. Ken the owner was very friendly and looked after us. Pub and restaurant in old thatched roof cottage. On the edge of town but was easy walk from town and worth the walk. Would highly recommend.
