Pros: big room, good lake views, big hotel, big restaurant and effective seating plan by staff, you don't need to wait long to get seated, good clean public bath areas, friendly front desk and car parking staff.
Con: non existent WiFi, they don't implement password so they run out of IP addresses and guests can't connect, all three days we could not connect to the hotel WiFi, same food spread every meal, frozen or canned fruits served, gaudy room deco (needs updating badly!), a lot of walking as rooms are far from the elevators, only the public onsen bath is good, all the rest of the amenities must oay extra, there's a ******* looking abandoned house opposite the hotel.

Overall, everything that doesn't concern your room and food is pretty nice - the location is good, the view is fantastic, the lounge is spectacular. However when it gets to service and your room, it is poor. As you can see on the photos, the room is old and there is mould left there. The staff do not take notice even when I asked for a change of room. Furthermore, the drainage will smell in your bathroom. The wifi is also poor and you get faint signal not just in your room but also in the restaurant.
The service overall was poor, with the service during the buffet very mixed, with a combination of junior staff guiding you to wrong places and the manager ordering you about without a level of courtesy.
This is a place to visit once, and not go back. There are others along the lake that are worth trying out.

The hotel overlooks the lake, providing us with excellent views. Only breakfast and dinner are included, so we need to go out to find lunch. The onsen is exceptional, but there is only one staff member working at the spa. We wanted to book a 100-minute package for two at the same time, but we couldn't, so we had to take turns. This arrangement was not the most efficient use of our time.

The room is too old and cleanliness is not good.
But the onsen is amazing. Breakfast and dinner buffet are quite good.
And it is close to the rusutsu ski resort, only 40 mind driving for snowboarding.

The lobby and public areas of the hotel felt grand and inviting. However, the room type we booked definitely needs renovation – the tatami was soft, and the bathroom was old and stained, so we opted to use the public bath and outdoor onsen instead, which were far superior. Our room did have access to an outdoor garden facing Lake Toya, offering a stunning view, especially with the snow. We had a great time at the indoor arcade. The outdoor open-air onsen was a highlight – one of the best experiences, overlooking the serene lake while snow gently fell. I’d consider staying here again but would choose a different room type next time.

The air conditioning and ventilation system in the room at this Lake Tōya hotel were both less than ideal. The bathroom hygiene was quite concerning, and the quality of both breakfast and dinner was also disappointing. That said, the hot spring bath, the surrounding cherry blossoms, and the scenic views of the lake and mountains were all quite pleasant. In May, a distant view of the snow-covered Mount Yōtei could still be faintly seen. Regarding the poor ventilation and lack of bedding items, I had to lodge two complaints with the front desk before a slight improvement was made. Other hygiene issues in the room (see photos below) could not be resolved by the hotel staff. On a positive note, the hotel does offer a complimentary shuttle service to and from Sapporo (each trip takes approximately 2.5 hours). In conclusion, I believe this unpleasant hotel experience may not be unique to me, and I sincerely hope that the hotel management will take thorough steps to improve and maintain a good reputation.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and while the facilities were impressive, my experience was overshadowed by several disappointing issues. The hotel's amenities, including the pool, gym, and restaurant, were top-notch, and the common areas were clean and well-maintained. However, the room itself was another story. The cleanliness was far below expectations. There were stains on the bed linens, dust in corners, and the bathroom had visible mold in the shower. For a hotel of this caliber, such hygiene standards are unacceptable.

Disappointing, I do not like the room as its not exactly what I seen on Trip.com. And the cleanliness is a problem with housefly, worn out seats, bathtub, tables etc. The only things that I can appreciate for this hotel is the food and onsen which is not crowded. Overall, i will prefer to stay at other hotel for this kind of price.

The first room we checked in had a smoking smell though we requested for non-smoking room. It also looked very dark with its old Europe style design. So we called the reception and asked for a room change. The staff immediately took action and brought us a new key to another room. The room is bright and spacious enough though the toilet is very small.
We had a great time in their onsen especially the outdoor one.

This hotel has stunning views the moment you walk into the main hall reception, you can see the massive lake. The room I was staying also had a stunning view of the lake.
The onsen spa is also very good because there are 5 different types of hot spa (hot jacuzzi, bubble hot jacuzzi, an outdoor jacuzzi and two slightly warmer onsen. There’s a sauna and a cold bath. All were very refreshing. That’s about all the positives I can give.
Now the disappointment, the buffet spread is large and was in a large banquet hall. It felt like a school hall eating place. The actual quality of the food wasn’t that good. Some dishes like the fish salmon had a fishy taste and stale, they served beef steak but it wasn’t that good.
This hotel operates with large tour groups and I felt like the staff treated all foreign guest ( in the catering side ) poorly. They would serve croissant and butter and jam but they don’t have knifes. I requested for a butter knife and the manager (older guy) just stared and told me to use the forks or spoon to spread butter in it. If you’re having dinner and the buffet ends at 9am, even if you’re about to take a dessert at 9am or a minute after, the manager will stand next to you and stop you.
This hotel provides you with an old fashion giant key instead of a key card. Only one key is provided, so if you’re going for a spa with your wife, you would have to time it on when to leave the spa area. I misplaced my keys but found it. I requested for a spare key and the reception told me to pay ¥10,000! If you’re used to modern hotels that provide you with modern amenities and plugs for all your devices and nice soft pillows with large TV, then this is not the hotel. But if you’re just going for a nights stay and experience the onsen, then go for it. (Beware…no towels are provided at the onsen)

Reception hall is quite good, have an amazing window view. Staff service is acceptable but the facilities of the bedroom is quite old and socket for electrical appliances and smartphone is not enough.

The hotel is not too bad, staff are okay but amenities and cleanliness of the hotel is below par. It is old and looks like it needs a total make over internally!
Hotel is remotely located, so dinner and breakfast are provided. However, it’s like a “war zone” during meals. Very chaotic and disorganised.
I personally will never come back here ever again.
