Beautiful hotel on the riverside of midtown Solothurn. We arrived on Sunday, so the counter wasn't staffed. I was emailed beforehand about the self check-in system, where you got a code and receive the keys to your room from an automated box. The hotel itself is situated in an historical building and the new and the old are well merged together. Our room was at the second story, so we had to climb a wooden staircase (which wasn't a problem for us). The room itself was nice and cozy, though the glass sliding doors of the bathroom, didn't close till the end. Maybe as a prevention to wetness and mold. The hotel had a wonderful breakfast hall, which served a simple but sufficient food. In the evening, a fridge full of beers, was open for the free use of the guests and a really nice private yard, viewing the riverside was available till the late nighttime. The staff is very nice and helpful. Our stay was perfect.

My room had view on the river, which is great. But without AC the room is very hot on the top floor. No fan in the room or balcony to get some airflow going. Service was kind and helpful. The breakfast is simple but okay.

The room was nice, well equipped and clean. However, access to the hotel is difficult by car. The only problem is the smoking area in the hotel. To access the rooms there is a smoking area, as well as to access the breakfast. The smell of cigarettes rises upstairs. Not very nice.

waren nach 19.00 Uhr beim Check-In und machten den Check-Out vor 06.00 Uhr - das Zimmer war bereits im voraus bezahlt. Dass weder beim Check-In noch beim Check-Out jemand vor Ort war, machte die Angelegenheit nicht einfacher. Es wurde extra zuvor angefragt ob ein späterer Check-In möglich sei, diese Anfrage wurde bejaht. Vor Ort musste man dann eine "Notfall-Nummer" anrufen um den Code für den Schlüssel zu erhalten. Die Person am anderen Ende konnte jedoch leider keine Auskunft zum frühen Check-Out am anderen Tag geben, oder wie das mit der noch ausstehenden Kurtaxe zu managen ist, geschweige denn wie hoch die Kurtaxe ist. Am Morgen hinterliessen wir dann den Betrag der Kurtaxe (selbst recherchiert wie hoch) auf dem Zimmer mit einer Notiz. Um 10.00 Uhr ein Anruf des Hotels, wir hätten am Morgen früh ausgecheckt, die Kurtaxe wäre noch offen... Nach Information der Dame, dass der Betrag auf dem Zimmer hinterlegt worden sei - meinte Sie: "Ach ja? Da waren wir noch nicht." Grundsätzlich ok, wenn niemand vor Ort ist, aber dann muss das organisiert (vor allem wenn vorgängig angefragt wurde), die Leute informiert und der Preis bzw. das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis dementsprechend angepasst sein. Das Zimmer ansonsten war sauber, die Lage top. Im Zimmer und den Hotelräumen hingen jedoch überall Schilder und Zettel mit Infos - da ja niemand vor Ort ist.

Das moderne Hotel im alten Gemäuer hat grosse Anziehungskraft. Wir werden sehr freundlich empfangen. Der Weg bis zum Zimmer ist bereits historisch, Absätze, Kopfsteinpflaster und Treppen müssen gemeistert werden. Das Zimmer mit direktem Blick auf die Aare ist schon faszinierend. Voll ausgestattet mit all dem was ein modernes heutiges Hotelzimmer angenehm bewohnbar macht. Gut schallgedämmte Fenster machen den Verkehrslärm in der Nacht annehmbar. Direkt am Wasser wird ein sehr feines Frühstück serviert.
