Absolutely loved this place - I had stayed here previously over 10 years ago, but obviously it's been renovated and updated. The location is gorgeous at the top of a hill in the middle of a tea plantation. The garden is well-maintained and birds are everywhere - sunbirds, Taylor birds, forest wagtails, swallows, sparrows, to name a few. The staff is awesome - Manushanka the manager and Kapila were exceptional!

Glendevon bungalow is remarkably striking with spectacular views. The interior layout is magnificent, the authenticity has not changed. The rooms are clean and perfect and the garden is fabulously beautiful. The service provided by the staff is exceptional. The manager is skillful and gentle, we enjoyed his hospitality. The chefs provided us delicious food with tempting presentations. Many thanks to the staff for making our stay a memorable and wonderful experience Best wishes, Ananda and Shiroma Mayadunne.

We stayed at Scottish Planter – Glendevon Bungalow from April 22–24, 2025, and it was truly one of a kind. Nestled in the tranquil hills of Ragala, this heritage bungalow dating back to 1880 welcomed us with warmth, serenity, and unmatched hospitality. After a long 16-hour journey with my infant son, wife, and mother, we arrived at 10:30 PM — yet everything was perfectly arranged for us, thanks to Manusanka, the ever-gracious property manager. From coordinating a pick-up van for the 1.2 km off-road trail to ensuring we had everything we needed upon arrival, his care made us feel right at home. The bungalow itself is a living piece of history — impeccably maintained, tastefully appointed, and surrounded by lush greenery, landscaped gardens, and the peaceful sounds of nature. The set-course meals were absolutely delicious — every dish was prepared with love and left us wanting more. A special thank you to Kapila, who attended to us throughout our stay with kindness and attentiveness. Whether it was adjusting breakfast to suit our preferences or ensuring we had everything we needed, he truly made a difference. This is a remote getaway, and that’s exactly its charm. Birdsong by day, starry skies by night, and the pure stillness of nature all around — it’s a place to disconnect and truly rejuvenate. We’re grateful for the experience and look forward to returning again. Thank you, Manusanka, for your incredible hospitality — and for the lovely conversations we’ll always remember. Our stay at this stunning bungalow was an experience to superb. This place was really nice, calm and quiet. Best place to be relaxed. The food was absolutely amazing. Well served in a way of attractive. Each n Every dish had a unique taste which is perfectly blended with their own ingredients. We had a morning walk and it was very refreshing which mixed with a bit of sunshine, sounds of various birds and a perfect greeny surrounding. This thing we must say that the staff was really impressed to serve an unforgettable experience to us, always looked after our needs, explained the history whenever we asked which made us keen to get a nice image about the place. They were amazing, kind and gave an unforgettable hospitality. Recommend this place without a doubt

Le bâtiment est très joli et le temps semble s'être arrêté au temps des colonies britanniques. Le personnel est tellement prévenant que cela en devient pénible. Quatre bonhommes les mains croisées dans le dos nous regardent manger et se jettent littéralement sur nos assiettes pour débarrasser dès que nous avons fini le plat. Les draps sont mouillés tant il y a de l'humidité. Les chiens errants ont aboyé toutes la nuit. Et le pire c'est que l'on est venu nous chercher en mini bus en bas de la colline car la route n'est pas praticable en voiture (notre chauffeur a abimé la sienne). Nous avons traversé le bidon ville qui s'arrête dès le portail de l'établissement. Bref beaucoup de route pour pas grand chose Ce sera notre plus mauvais hôtel sur nos 15 jours de vacances
