Service was attentive from the moment we arrived. Free Prosecco on the rooftop during sunset not to be missed. Room comfortable Italian vibe with balcony overlooking a park. Beds great after a long flight. Breakfast in a sunlit dining room was elegant buffet heavy on pastries but something for everyone.

Traveller Beware! This hotel is actually the Grand Hotel Cesare Augusta with 900+ TripAdvisor reviews! It is hiding behind the name Hotiday holiday for which there is only one review on trip advisor. We were only given the real name a short while before departure and would never have booked reading the online reviews. The Hotiday hotel doesn’t actually exist - I believe this is the agency selling rooms and creaming off additional commission. If you want to stay here then save money and book direct. We felt this was a very underhand and deceitful way of marketing the hotel, which is definitely 3* at best. Also caused great confusion for our taxi driver who had to stop and ask several people for directions as our original confirmation with the taxi firm specified Hotiday Hotel. Run down and outdated hotel stuck in the 90’s. Fully tiled throughout but had to ask for towelling slippers to walk from bathroom to bedroom to avoid wet footprints on the floor. There is nowhere to hang damp towels in the bathroom so we had to drape them over door. Towels were replaced intermittently during our week’s stay. The bottom sheet was not fitted but a flat sheet tucked in. It was too small and led to an uncomfortable night’s sleep as it kept shifting whilst trying to sleep. No duvet covers - just a sheet under a synthetic duvet which I sincerely hope was washed between guests for basic hygiene. Very lumpy poor quality pillows. Noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Constant heavy traffic on main road outside from first light until after midnight. Ear plugs essential to get any sleep! Nowhere quiet to relax in the hotel. Garden is next to road and roof terrace plays unwelcome music very loudly. In this day and age people have their own music and headphones if that’s what they want. Other people’s choice of music shouldn’t be inflicted on those wishing to sunbathe or swim in peace. Roof bar sells small measures for full price. We ordered two Campari Spritz which were served in a small wine glass and charged €9 each. The same drink can be bought in local bars for €7 in a half litre glass. Also a charge of €5 for ice and very stern warnings about it being absolutely forbidden to bring any food or drink from outside the hotel into your rooms! At over £250 a night for a very average room we felt ripped off enough without being treated like naughty children trying to get away with drinking our own duty free gin! Breakfast was very poor. No prepared fresh fruit - just tinned in syrup and fresh apples and bananas. Head waiter is like a game show host - full of banter and enjoying his role but not following through with decent service. There is a very rude and untrained young waiter who ran into my husband whilst he was carrying coffee back to the table, causing him to spill it. No apology or contrition - just an arrogant shrug and smirk. Breakfast finishes at 10am on the dot when the lights are turned off and all food is whisked away at lightening speed. We hones

The hotel is really quite dated. I understand they might want to keep the retro look but this is just tired in places. The hotel itself is well located being approx 4 mins from the train station and about 5 mins down to the main square where they're is a big selection of shops and restaurants. All the restaurants are much of a muchness in the fact that they all pretty much offer the same thing. We didn't try the hotel restaurant. There seems to be some controlling rules at the hotel such as you're "forbidden" to consume food and drink in the room other than that which has been purchased from the hotel. I've never had that before and ignored it! I still went to Carrefour and got a bottle of wine to drink in the room. It's my holiday!! The breakfast was mediocre at best and we were fed up of it within 3 days. I never expect the bacon or eggs to be up to much but the continental breakfast was poor. The pastries were pretty boring and bad quality, so the meats tasted strongly of garlic. What was really bad was if you were Italian, when the waiter showed them to the table, he took their coffee cups, went in the kitchen area and brought them higher quality coffee. Us foreign tourists had to make do with the poor coffee.
