The Crown Hotel

We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel, bed and breakfast. Our room was ok, reasonably comfortable, but I reported to the girl at the bar downstairs that the toilet appeared to be blocked as the water didn't go down properly, so she said she would pass the message on. The next day I had to ask for fresh towels as they hadn't been replaced, so the landlady brought some up herself. That was the only time anyone came into our room - housekeeping was non-existent. Nothing was done about the toilet, we were told that 5 different people had been to check on it and they were unable to do anything! Therefore I feel that they had no right to make the room available as the toilet was unsanitary. Breakfast was mediocre, fresh fruit was not replaced so there was very little in the way of strawberries, blueberries etc , only a couple of each which were left over, and the last day we were there as the landlady had to go out she left a pot of tea on the table which must have been standing for a good 15 minutes so was consequently cold by the time we got to it! So I will not be recommending this hotel, very disappointing for the £95 a night we paid.

Stayed here for the weekend was very welcoming and room was spotless and comfortable. Had everything you could want breakfast was ok (personally I’d rather have a cooked breakfast),staff are fabulous and nothing was too much trouble will definitely stay here again

The room was beautifully decorated with everything we needed and as someone who doesn't drink tea or coffee, I really appreciated the bottles of water. The beds were extremely comfortable and we both had a good night's sleep. The owner and staff were amazing- extremely friendly and very welcoming- couldn't wish for better hosts. The pub was a 'proper' pub and breakfast the following morning was lovely. Again as someone who doesn't eat much in a morning, the cheese and hams were perfect.No onside parking but managed to park in the side street snd there is a car park a few hundred yards awa. Booked to stay again already and as my son is at the university I'm sure we will return more than once . Kay
