The Crown Hotel

The room was beautifully decorated with everything we needed and as someone who doesn't drink tea or coffee, I really appreciated the bottles of water. The beds were extremely comfortable and we both had a good night's sleep. The owner and staff were amazing- extremely friendly and very welcoming- couldn't wish for better hosts. The pub was a 'proper' pub and breakfast the following morning was lovely. Again as someone who doesn't eat much in a morning, the cheese and hams were perfect.No onside parking but managed to park in the side street snd there is a car park a few hundred yards awa. Booked to stay again already and as my son is at the university I'm sure we will return more than once . Kay

We weren’t staying at the hotel but found it when looking for somewhere to eat lunch. Although the bar had the appearance of a traditional pub, there was a good, well chosen menu which catered as well for vegetarians as it did meat eaters. Had a wonderful Buddha Bowl with hot drinks and excellent value. Will definitely eat here again when we next visit Southwell.

What a lovely hotel. As it is above a pub, we were expecting it to be noisy and a bit scruffy. Instead, the room was stylish and clean and sumptuous and the food was delicious. We had a very good night's sleep and the owner, Tamara, bent over backwards to make our stay as comfortable as possible. She reall went above and beyond expectations. In fact, all the staff were super helpful and very friendly. The hotel is in a cental location in a very lovely village and there is a comfortable snug where my 92 year old Mum was able to relax in comfort. A well deserved 5*

Great place under recent new ownership, very clean & comfortable and a great welcome. The bar is comfortably busy and has a good vibe. Meals are classic pub - pie + special fishcakes & fantastic deserts - all home cooked. Ignore the old reviews - the Crow is now a great place to stay! Southwell is a particularly attractive place & The Crown is right in the centre.

We stayed here for a visit to the local showground, really friendly welcome from the owner, who explained that she had only taken over the hotel 5 weeks ago, The room was really pleasant, comfy bed , nice on suite. We were informed that there was live music in the bar that evening but it would not go on till late. We went out for the evening but returned in time to hear some of it and the atmosphere in the bar was really good, the singer was also very talented. Good nights sleep. Continental breakfast in the morning was lovely and again the owner could not have been more helpful and pleasant.

Recently been taken over by Tam and family. We were the first to stay since the takeover. Very warm welcome by all the staff, Tam explained it was a work in progress, and her vision for the future will ensure our return. Will look forward to seeing how the improvements and changes pan out.
