State House Inn

The property was once a Marriott before the recent brand switch to Wyndham. Sadly, the property was a great disappointment. 1. Milk serviced at breakfast expired on July 9. I ate there July 13. 2. Extreme shortage on everything from towels, in-room coffee, shampoo, etc. 3. Refrigerator freezer contained so much frost I could not open the door. 4. Breakfast was overall short on all items. About 5 yogurt cups were in the refrigerator. There were over 50 cars parked in parking lot. 5. No meat was served at breakfast. Only hot item was do it yourself waffles. 6. They ran out of morning coffee. Later a thermos was sent to breakfast room, but placed in a location that most guest could not find it. (They did not place where the empty thermoses were located). 7. Hotel room temperature gage was "locked". Guest had two buttons at same time to unlock then reset it to temperature they desired. There were no instructions in the room. I had to ask at hotel desk. 8. When I asked at the hotel desk before check out, I was told "People do not want to work". When checking the local news feed, I discovered that the Federal ICE agents made a raid (within the week) at various work locations in Springfield. (Coincidence?) There were a few good things: 1. Hotel clerk at check in was polite and helpful. 2. Room was rather clean (except the refrigerator). It is a shame. Downtown Springfield needs an upscale hotel. This property once was that upscale property. Sadly, it fell on hard times. For the price I paid, I rate this hotel as poor at best. Management needs to address issues, not blame workers under them. The Wyndham chain should visit this property to see how they could improve their hotel and their brand. I will "NOT" return to this hotel.

Our first room stunk of **** so bad it made me nauseous. The elevators were no better. Everyone in our group had to change rooms for one reason or another. Breakfast terrible. They served what I think was reheated frozen eggs. We called them hockey pucks. Tasted disgusting. The coffee, when there was any was like colored water. Great location, the shower was nice. We will not be going back here, ever.

Pleasant property. Nice staff. Convenient location. Would book again. Came up for the Hemmings Great Race and it was a perfect location close to the event.

Was not very good

This hotel has seen better days. We were greeted in the lobby by the smell of **** and when we got to the room it was moldy, musty smelling. We were given an “upgrade” to a one bedroom which had a pullout couch. Our son had to sleep on a tiny couch. There were no linens and not enough towels. Water pressure quit in the morning and the drain would barely drain. Trains blast by at 11 pm and again starting at 6 am blaring their whistles. On the plus side, we were one of 4 cars in the parking lot and we were within walking distance of the historical district.

Lots of things needed to be fixed in the room like a peeling ceiling broken tiles the carpet was wet.
