Omar Khayam HouseBoat Retreat

Our stay at Omar Khayam was incredibly disappointing. They seem to charge for every little thing, even breathing if they could. My wife and I booked through Goibibo, impressed by the pictures of a houseboat. Upon arrival, we were told our booking was for a cottage on land, and the houseboat would cost an additional ₹3000. When we refused and began looking for alternatives, they called back, offering it for ₹1500. Reluctantly, we agreed, but they later charged us extra for water (₹500), a blanket (₹500), and other items, inflating the total back to ₹3000. Truly a pathetic experience—avoid at all costs. Please don't go there

Very beautiful house boat, in good condition, best location possible (right at a corner, with a lot of space for 2 decks), delicious food (Kashmir rice was delicious) and good hospitality by Mr. Fayaz, her daughter and son Omar. Fantastic relation price for quality. Enjoy!

Rooms were ok. House boat stay was ok too. But finally came the fat bill for food which gave a shock of our life. They asked whether they could serve for dinner . We agreed without asking for tariff or checking on prices. This was a big mistake on our part for which we were forced to pay a heavy price for it.The next day morning when we were checking out, the dinner bill amount which the houseboat owner said put as into a tangle. We didn't have the amount as weren't prepared. So I had go to an ATM to pay the amount

If you are planning to visit Srinagar, you must experience the stay at houseboat. The Omar Khayam is a wonderful houseboat. Although the view outside is not excellent, but the stay experience is wonderful. Dining area, room, washroom everything is perfect for a family stay.

It was an amazing experience staying there. So well decorated and you will get wonderful views as well. Owner and staffs were so welcoming and always at service. We got home cooked food there and it was so tasty and healthy too. All over wonderful experience.

I had booked a suite on the houseboat for a overnight stay. We had a wonderful stay. Excellent hospitality throughout the stay and delicious home cooked food. The owner had also arranged for a shikara ride which is a unique experience in itself.
