Kinnettles Hotel & Spa

Had a great experience at the Hotel this august. The staff was very friendly and helpful and you cannot beat the location. Loved the included breakfast! There are some things in the rooms that could be paid attention to, we had a broken mirror and thermostat. No AC so be warned if you are going in a warm month. Also be warned about the full price before you book, when the final bill came it was a couple hundred more than what I'd booked at as it didn't appear that taxes and fees were included.

The hotel provided a variety of tasty breakfast options. And if interest, the dinner menu was unique and offered a wonderful selections.

Fire/ventilation alarms three times in a night is not acceptable. Told by staff it’s a building design problem in the Annex so this is ongoing - also mentioned in other reviews. Then our room smoke detector was open with wires hanging out. Emailed desk in AM, returned PM and not fixed. Very dirty elements to room. See carpet photos. Spiderwebs on walls, trip hazard from room to bathroom. Bathroom huge but no place to put anything except on windowsill. No body lotion or bathroom glasses. Loud if facing street especially first floor from late pub across street and golfers pick up in front of bustling early AM. Breakfast was slow cook to order. 40 minutes to get food. Other food was sub par quality. Boxed corn flakes and no fresh fruit- canned floating in syrup. Understaffed and rooms look good on surface but past renovation with poor quality materials now means room in general disrepair.

We were here exploring the town and university for my son. The hotel was perfectly located near campus and only a few blocks from the Old Course. Staff was attentive and very friendly. Rooms were large and had great bathrooms. Breakfast was excellent. The only thing missing was an air conditioner, but it is Scotland. It just means you have to leave the windows open and sometimes noisy outside with people and seagulls. Would stay here again. Excellent value.

We stayed in the Annex across the street from the main hotel. The annex is actually a beautiful old Victorian building so we were quite happy. However, our room was in the attic space and it was quite literally like a sauna! The actual furnishings etc were high quality and very nice but there was no AC and the room temperature was unbearable. The staff offered to move us across the hall which was slightly cooler but there was no TV in that room and we were looking forward to an evening relaxing in bed. We slept with windows open and a fan on but barely slept a wink. The seagulls and an alarm in the hallway made sure of that. Breakfast finishes at 9am even on weekends so we missed breakfast.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights and had a fantastic experience. Accommodation, staff, food and location were first class!! As regular visitors to St Andrews, we hadn’t stayed here previously, so it’s been a great find!! Really looking forward to returning.
