Berkeley House Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I just enjoyed a night at the Historic Berkeley Place. We stayed in the Frederick Suite. It was quiet, spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed was so comfortable and the sheets were buttery soft. It’s an easy walk to restaurants and shopping. It’s directly across the street from Woodrow Wilson’s birthplace which made for a fun afternoon history lesson. The home is beautifully restored with modern features. We highly recommend these accommodations to anyone visiting Staunton.

This is a beautifully restored inn. We stayed in the first floor Beverly Suite, which was quite spacious, beautiful, and comfortable, especially the super-comfortable bed. The location was in walkable distance to several places for dinner. Note: There are no meals served here; older reviews from previous ownership might make you think breakfast was served.

Conveniently located within walking distance to Historic Center. Super comfortable beds, old world charm. Impeccably clean. Quiet. However, Lacks ice machine. Slippers for hardwood floors would have been nice. Wall switch for lights not located near door. Located on opposite wall adjacent to bathroom door on other side of bed. Bring a flashlight if you plan to check in after dark. Overall, worth the cost.

My husband and I just returned from, one night at The Historic Berkeley Place in Staunton, VA, and the property is simply amazing. What a gorgeous Inn. The perfect combination of charm from days past and modern amenities. The suites are huge and beautifully decorated. The property is about a 5 minute walk to all of downtown Staunton's great restaurants and shops. We parked our car at the hotel and walked

Berkeley House is an oasis of calm and comfort. The balcony off my room and the wrap around porch made ideal spots for reading, The breakfasts were outstanding and of such quantity that no lunch was needed. A take-out dinner on the porch over a glass of wine rounded out the day. Despite the hills, Staunton is an interesting walking town from an architectural and historical standpoint. There is a trolley for those who would prefer to ride. On this trip, I skipped some of the sights, such as the Woodrow Wilson Library, as I have been to Staunton on a number of occasions. A highlight is always a performance at the Blackfriars Playhouse, Comedy of Errors on this trip. The only disappointment has been the closing of the Jolly Roger Haggle Shop several years ago.

Our room was so clean, quiet and cozy! Breakfast was delicious, too! The only disappointment was the private balcony. While private, there was only one bench to sit on and the deck needed painting. However, it was February when we stayed, so it could be that the private balcony gets more attention during the fair weather months.
