Inconvenient location and nice staff The staff are quite friendly and nice. The location is... a bit hard to say. If you are a nature lover, u probably enjoy the walk in the neighborhood. There're hills and nice houses nearby. Around 5 min walk from the hotel, there's a nice track called Strathblane Railway Path. But if you want to get to the city centre, and you can't drive, you can only get there by a bus which is 50 min ride (note that it's 1 to 2 hour frequency). I waited for the bus at the buschanan bus station on Saturday at 7pm (it's scheduled at 7:10pm) and the bus went missing. I asked staff at the bus station and they told me to find the help desk but it was closed and the hotline was also shut down. I waited for the next bus at 8:35pm and luckily it did arrive. So make sure you check the bus schedule if you are going for a tour/taking train in the city centre!!!

Booked for a meal with my family and on arrival lovely, manager showed us the table and handed us over to waitress. Ordered drinks without ice and lemon, got ice and lemon. I had the Cullen skink, always a favourite when I’m up north. Not this time. It was new potatoes with cream and minimum smoked fish very bland looking with no parsley, just white. My main course was moules mariniere. Served barely warm and when I got to the sauce it was so salty it was inedible. I got the distinct feeling the chef was not working. My sister found a massive (large really) bone in her “fillet of cod”. Credit to the manager who didn’t charge her as she couldn’t eat it afterwards. Standards weren’t good and chef really didn’t seem to care v

Staff made our group feel very welcome from the start and very helpful/knowledgeable about the area. Check in was quick and easy. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. The food was brilliant at both dinner and breakfast. We all recommend the fish and chips and the full Scottish breakfast.

On a recent return to the kirkhouse inn I was totally surprised by the newly refurbished room 12 . This is simply a beautifully presented room spacious with a small adjoining snug . This is the suprise it comes with a small vynl record player and a selection of vynl to select. This added with the colourful selection of great photographs of the classic portraits. Just brilliant loved it . As per all my visits the food and service can not be faulted and especially to young Callum who greeted me with a warm welcome. If the ongoing refurbishment continues on the same level then the kirkhouse will definitely be a real must for a over night . Well done

Firstly, fantastic staff, who were so pleasant and obliging. The meal in the evening was well presented and tasty, and the breakfasts in the morning couldn’t be faulted, first class. However the rooms are slightly dated, and all the blinds were broken, with the chains coming away in yours hands. A bit TLC was required, but comfy enough beds with clean sheets. The areas downstairs were not the best. A couple of roudy drunks lads sat next to us in the lounge area, swearing loudly and being off putting to those enjoying a drink. Bar was loud with those playing pool. Could do with a separate area closed off with a door. Apart from that an enjoyable experience and would recommend this place to anyone visiting

Lovely one night stay here. We had nice lunch on arrival and breakfast the next day was first class. We arrived back at 1145 after a wedding and would comment that in our bedroom it was quite noisy with what we presume was staff clearing up for the night and that continued for quite some time. Would agree with a previous comment about the walls being very thin as we heard heavy snoring from the room next door. Would stay again but will request a different room.

Stopped here for a meal as it had been a long since we ate here and it has changed Management I think over a few years. Anyway very nice decor, food expensive. Bit of a strange set up in the sense they seem to have 3 dining areas with a bar & sky tv and a pool table in the middle! Food was nice and large portions. What let them down big time was their ‘Restrooms’. I had to mention to a staff member the ladies toilets were requiring attention. Personally, I hate these signs Management put up to the effect ‘please leave the toilets in the condition you found them in’. Really, come on staff should be checking these periodically. My partner said the Gents was unpleasant to say the least. No plans to return.
