Schoone Oordt Country House

We had a wonderful stay at this charming country house hotel. The setting is peaceful and picturesque, perfect for a quiet retreat. Our room was cozy, clean, and full of character, with lovely views of the surrounding gardens. One of the highlights of our visit was the dinner at the hotel restaurant. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The locally sourced ingredients really stood out. The service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening, striking just the right balance of relaxed and professional. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with a great selection of hot and cold options. Alison and her family were very warm and welcoming and add that extra special touch to the experience. We look forward to returning to the stunning Schoone Oordt Country House very soon!

Really great place!! A beautiful hidden gem with great hospitality and excellent food. Breakfast is amazing (3 courses) , as well as dinner! We had a great time here, well beyond expectations. We stayed here for 2 days with a family of 10 in total.

Everything about this place was super. We were greeted warmly on arrival and had coffee and homemade scones whilst checking in. The grounds and surroundings are well manicured and pretty The rooms themselves are traditional but very nice. The weather was dull and cool so we could not make the most of the lovely pool and sunbeds . They kindly lit the fire in the room for us too which was a nice touch. The bathroom was big with a traditional old bath and pull toilet all very quaint. The toiletries are of a good quality . The bar is well stocked and drinks are served by Alison’s son Kai who is knowledgeable about drinks and very friendly. Our 3 course dinner was delicious and plentiful as was our 3 course breakfast . Our dinner was served to us by Callum who was also very friendly. As was the lovely Janey serving breakfast. After dinner when we got back to the room there were water bottles in the bed which were appreciated being a cooler night. Swellendam itself is smallish but nice for one or two nights . Whilst we ate breakfast the guys even washed our car! So many nice extra touches . Overall , Alison and the whole team provide a great, quality experience and we would highly recommend!
