Injury on the Waterslide – No Acknowledgement from Hotel Management Review text: I stayed at the Mövenpick BalaLand Resort at Lake Balaton in early June 2025 with my family. Unfortunately, I was injured while using the red waterslide at the hotel’s water park. My hand slipped badly due to what appeared to be a surface or design issue. I immediately informed the hotel staff and later sent a written report to the management. On June 6th, the slide was no longer operational, possibly due to maintenance. Despite this, the hotel director later denied that the incident was caused by any issue with the slide or that it was related to safety concerns. This experience was physically and emotionally difficult, especially since I had expected higher safety standards and a more responsible reaction from a hotel under the Accor brand. I am sharing this experience solely to inform other families and travelers. I hope safety standards will be reviewed more seriously in the future. This post reflects my personal experience and opinion only.

Wir waren für sechs Tage im Mövenpick Balaland Resort in Ungarn – als Familie mit zwei kleinen Kindern (einem Baby und einem Zweijährigen) – und insgesamt sehr zufrieden. Die gesamte Anlage ist top gepflegt und außerordentlich sauber. Die Zimmer wurden täglich gründlich gereinigt, am Abend wartete sogar eine kleine Schokolade auf dem Bett und zur Begrüßung gab es leckere Kekse – ein wirklich liebevoller Empfang. Das Essen im Rahmen der Halbpension war ein absolutes Highlight. Morgens gab es eine vielfältige Frühstücksauswahl, und abends ein abwechslungsreiches Themenbuffet mit täglich wechselnden Länderküchen – stets frisch, liebevoll angerichtet und geschmacklich top! Besonders schön: Um 15:00 Uhr gab es täglich Kuchen und Früchte mit Schokolade, was auch für die Kinder ein Hit war. Für Familien ist das Hotel wirklich ideal: Es gibt einen großzügigen Spielplatz draußen, einen tollen Indoor-Spielbereich sowie einen Kinderbereich im Wasser, wo sich unser Zweijähriger stundenlang beschäftigen konnte. Alles war bis 20:00 Uhr geöffnet, was wirklich angenehm ist. Auch beim Essen wurde an Kinder gedacht – es gibt Gerichte auf Kinderhöhe und das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Einziger Wermutstropfen: Beim Auschecken erlebten wir leider eine unangenehme Überraschung. Im Zimmer gibt es eine Minibar, die wir bewusst nicht genutzt haben – jedoch standen über der Minibar zwei Packungen Nüsse und eine Flasche Wein, die nicht als kostenpflichtig gekennzeichnet waren. Da sie auch zweimal aufgefüllt wurden, gingen wir – wie in vielen anderen Hotels üblich – davon aus, dass es sich um ein kostenloses Willkommensgeschenk handelt. Leider stellte sich bei der Abrechnung heraus, dass jeweils 15 € pro Packung Nüsse berechnet wurden, zuzüglich 27 % Mehrwertsteuer. Das war ärgerlich und hätte durch eine klarere Kennzeichnung leicht vermieden werden können. Fazit: Ein wunderschönes Hotel mit sehr gutem Service, toller Küche und idealen Bedingungen für Familien. Wir würden wiederkommen – aber beim nächsten Mal schauen wir genauer, was als Geschenk gemeint ist und was nicht.

A dirty hotel, with a shameful level of cleanliness. Unfresh food that gave my wife an upset stomach, and a very poor level of service. The gym there is dirty, and the facilities are contaminated with dirt. The staff are not nice and I recommend that you do not go near the hotel.

"I'd like to talk about my experience at the Mövenpick BalaLand Resort. I stayed for 4 nights, from March 31, 2025, to April 4, 2025, in a suite facing the street. The suite was spacious and nice, the hotel facilities are new, and the kids loved them. The service was far from 5 stars. To begin with, upon arrival, if I hadn't asked for help from the staff, I would have had to carry 4 suitcases and two strollers to the room by myself. Breakfast was mediocre, dinner was not good, they do you a favor when they put a main course on your plate. There are no drinks at dinner, even if you want water it's at an extra cost, so we learned to bring our own water from the room. A 5-star hotel must have water coolers in every corner for free drinking water, the hotel doesn't have that. To buy water at the hotel, a bottle costs 2000 Hungarian Forints. At the restaurant in the water park, we ordered food, and in the meantime, the kids asked for chips, so I opened a bag we bought at the supermarket. An employee named Peter approached us and asked us not to eat them in the restaurant, claiming that if we wanted chips, we could buy them from them, and rudely said either we go outside to eat or not eat at all. I felt like a student being scolded by a teacher, not like a guest at a 5-star hotel. On our first day at the water park, I went down a slide with my son, a lifeguard approached me and asked me not to use the slides, that they're only for children and adults are not allowed. So, be aware, anyone coming to the hotel, the slides are for children only. Room cleaning was basic and not thorough, once we found a dirty towel with lipstick folded with the clean towels. The rooms are not soundproof, you can hear noise from all around, imagine a room above you with kids who don't go to sleep early, playing past midnight. There's no air conditioning in the room, one day it was hot and I couldn't sleep, and the whole bed was sweaty, both me and my wife. To add to that, after 7 PM there's nothing to do, they close the gymboree, turn off the lights outside, and only the kids' club remains, maybe 60 square meters with all the hotel's kids. And at check-out, I asked for a late check-out, they asked for 100 Euros. I told them I'm entitled to it for free, it's one of my benefits as an All Accor Silver member, they told me it's not possible, the hotel is fully booked on the check-out day. I went into the app as if to book a new room for the night, and there were rooms available, they seemed like liars and didn't apologize, and if I hadn't insisted, they wouldn't have let me stay at the hotel. After check-out, my wife and I carried 2 strollers with kids and 4 suitcases to a taxi in the parking lot without help from the hotel staff who were watching us. The hotel is not worth the price and needs a lot of improvement, especially in service. I would not recommend it from personal experience and after many trips to All Accor hotels around the world."

We had a fantastic experience! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by KC at the reception, who made our check-in smooth and welcoming. The facilities were top-notch with beautiful views of Lake Balaton and plenty of activities for the child in the kid's club. The rooms were child friendly design and clean. The dinner was impressive offering a wide variety of delicious options. We also enjoyed the family park which was well-maintained and never felt overcrowded. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. Thank you to KC and the rest of the staff for making our stay memorable. We will definitely be back!:)

Very clean hotel, food r good. Staff r not good we have very bad treatment from one of the staff, a manger, unfortunately we couldn’t cancel booking so we stay. But.. Hotel r very good! Kids area perfect. Water park perfect rooms super clean..
