Rarotonga Beach Bungalows

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. We loved the bungalows- definitely retro cool vibe. The location and beach front feel was so awesome. We woke up each day to the amazing lagoon view. Steps from snorkeling and coral. Even with the rainy weather - we went out and about - or lazed around. The family and staff were very attentive and helpful. We felt very welcome. For an iconic South Pacific feel, these well made traditional bungalows were fun. Lots of shell art and carvings dotted the property. We felt like the only ones there. The location was lovely, but the onsite managers were rarely “onsite,” they would not allow us to have complimentary late checkout, (not even an hour or 2, even though our flight didn’t leave until nearly midnight and we had checked in at nearly midnight.) They provided us with stained towels and a dirty and used kitchen sponge upon arrival. Paara asked us when our wedding anniversary was. He told us that he would bring us a bottle of “bubbly” to celebrate our special day. He never wished us a Happy Anniversary, nor did he bring us any “bubbly.” When we asked for paper towels or napkins he stated that nobody had ever asked for them and they weren’t provided. It rained and there were high winds 7 out of 8 days that we were in Rarotonga (nobody’s fault,) but when we finally saw Kayla to ask for sightseeing brochures, she had none to give us, stating that some were left in our bungalow. There were only a few in the folder. She recommended visiting a nearby garden, which was very mediocre. The mattress was extra firm, the chair cushions indoors and on the outside lounge chairs were thin and worn out. The 2 burner gas stove had to be lit with a match and barely fit 2 pans on it. We paid over $500 per night, with fees and taxes for this beach bungalow. It was a huge splurge to celebrate our anniversary and we were sorely disappointed! We do NOT recommend staying here!

Our 12 days at this resort were just sublime, the bungalow is beautiful with a low key retro vibe and a feeling of it being your own place. The view, the beach, the lagoon the staff, amazing. I cant imagine there is a resort on Rarotonga that we would like better.
