Scenic Matavai Resort Niue

A beautiful spot. We stayed in a deluxe clifftop room which had a spectacular view, the room was smaller than expected based on photos online. Staff were very welcoming and friendly but maybe a bit overwhelmed at times as we were forgotten in the restaurant a couple of times. Overall still a lovely experience and we'd go back

I absolutely loved my experience staying at the Matavai. My superior room was set back from some of the other rooms, so I had a lovely feeling of garden surroundings yet still had the ocean view and could see whales from my deck. The room itself was well appointed. The bed was huge and very comfortable with great pillows. Great bathroom with 2 shower heads, large tea & coffee selection + coffee pod machine. I really liked being further away from the main area of the resort where the pools etc were, it was peaceful and didn't have people walking past. The layout throughout the gardens was beautiful, walking around the resort was stunning. The restaurant had some of the best views I've experienced... getting to watch whales as they pass by is something very special. The food was incredible, I enjoyed every meal. The included breakfast was a great continental selection AND a choice off the menu - very good! Staff were friendly and I had a few of them use my name which was really appreciated. Being up high on the waters edge overlooking the changing tides on the reef below was beautiful. You could see this from multiple levels - at the restaurant and the 2 pools. I will be recommending this resort and will definitely be staying there again on the future

Mum & I stayed in mid August, peak Whale season. We saw one while we were waiting at the check-in desk. Absolutely amazing. Our room was like the pictures with a view to die for. Clean, tidy and eco conscious, the whole resort was beautiful. Food was delicious with enough variety to be able to eat there every day and Shadow at the pool bar was absolutely fantastic. Short walk to Niue Blue for a whale swim and back for various activities to keep us entertained in the evening including a coconut demo, coconut crab talk and local kids performance. Loved getting to know some of the staff, Tomasi, Sala, Semi, Elaine, Jay & Shadow and new manager Tony (sorry if I spelled any of these wrong) they were the absolute best, 11/10 stars, would totally recommend. Thank you so much for making our holiday the best it could be. Would love to come back one day.

We had a fabulous stay at the Scenic Matavai. It’s a lovely setting - with whales passing by. Very helpful staff. Nice good. Relaxing atmosphere. Perfect for a getaway to recharge your batteries. We’ll be back!

We stayed at the Matavai Apartments about 1.8 kms from the resort. Thy we at a good location with good views overlooking the bay to see whales swimming past. The apartments had everything needed for a good stay. We visited the resort a few times a good place to have a drink and chill out

Niue is such a special gem in the Pacific Ocean. This is our second time staying at The Scenic Matavia Resort. A fantastic place to stay. The staff are super friendly. Our barman Shadow down at the pool bar was awesome. He was so happy and fun to be around.
