"It was great and wonderful to stay at the hostel in Tavira. The staff was very friendly and met some wonderful people during my stay. The room got AC which was great and the place was clean as well. The breakfast was really delicious. I would definitely recommend the hostel if anyone staying in Tavira"

"Former Porta Nova Hotel since 2017 completely remodeled. Free breakfast, free Sauna and Turkish bath, free indoor and outdoor pool makes this place a bargain if you can get reasonable rates (65€ we paid per night). Buffet dinner 29€/Person + drinks is overpriced (local restaurant dinner incl. drinks is 15-20€/Person) Breakfast buffet has huge selection, made to order eggs and stuff is a real plus. Parking (still) free (incl. the roadside). Very nice personell all over - high recommened for Tavira! I recomend "Restraurante O Simao" in residential area"

"Golden Club Cabanas Review We stayed at the Golden Club Cabanas for a week in May through RCI. The setting is absolutely wonderful, right in the heart of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. The beach can only be reached by boat, with a regular shuttle running throughout the day, which adds to the experience. Guests do have to wear a wristband all week to show the boat captain, which we personally found a little cumbersome and irritating. Cabanas itself is lovely and makes a great base for exploring Faro, Tavira and the beautiful wetlands of the Reserva Natural do Sapal de Castro Marim e Vila Real de Santo António. Sadly, the Golden Club resort itself feels very tired and in real need of refurbishment, which is a shame because it has so much potential. Our apartment was spacious but clearly neglected in places. The floor coverings on the landings were particularly dirty and could really do with a deep clean. The evening entertainment was also very loud and continued until around 11pm each night, which may bother lighter sleepers. One thing to be aware of is that there are no duvets on the beds. We were only provided with a sheet and bedspread, and even with the extra blanket from the wardrobe we still felt cold at times. If you use the air conditioning for heating, be warned that electricity is charged separately and quite expensively — we paid over €40 for the week. The apartment was also rather sparsely equipped for self-catering. We were only given very small tumblers and would have appreciated some proper glasses for water, wine or beer. No washing-up liquid or scourer was provided initially, although reception did supply them quickly once we asked. Our dishwasher didn’t work when we arrived, but to be fair it was replaced very promptly after we reported it. However, no dishwasher tablets were provided. Despite all of this, would we return? Honestly, yes — in a flash if we found a cheap flight again. The stay only cost us around 25,000 RCI points, so in many ways you do get what you pay for. The location really is superb and with some investment the resort could be fantastic."

The varied breakfast with live piano music was very pleasant and enhanced the meal. A minor drawback was a problem with the hot water one morning, and the room doors are heavy and noisy, which can be bothersome early in the morning. However, these issues didn't detract from the overall positive impression."

"I had a reservation for one adult and two children. When I arrived at reception, it was listed as a two-person reservation. They immediately resolved the issue, but the room only had two beds, and they didn't resolve the issue. When I arrived for breakfast, my reservation wasn't listed, and we had trouble getting in. The room's air conditioning wasn't working. Terrible check-in information. They didn't even inform you about the Wi-Fi, breakfast hours, or the restaurant's location. Excessive wait times for check-in or check-out, lines to get to breakfast, and no pool loungers available."

"Leaving this lovely hotel and resort today after another 2 weeks of complete relaxation and great weather. We wish we were staying longer and have already decided to make it 3 weeks next September! The reception staff are extremely helpful and we must give a big shout out to David, who went above and beyond to help us with a problem we had with Ryanair. He was brilliant! There are two large pools, one ideal for families and young children and the other one is quieter for those of us who have had our children and prefer just to relax. The grounds are beautiful and kept very clean. We cannot comment on the food as we prefer to eat out every night. There are numerous cafes and restaurants just a 5 - 10 min level walk to the village of Cabanas which is lovely. We particularly loved the steaks in Assurae (not sure of spelling), breakfast at Murphy’s Bar and Nuno does the best beer!! We stayed in Studio Sunrise apartment which was clean and adequate for our purposes. See you next September Cabanas hotel!!"
