Open Gate Hostel Hawaii

Absolutely a wonderful place to stay! All staff are a delight and give you a warm welcome to their home which is covered in art work and craftsmanship! Yes, it's off grid but upkeep and cleanliness is kept up with all day long! Batteries for solar power were never an issue, always had charged devices, even brought my own solar panel just in case and never needed it. Their rain water collected for the house tastes better than our city bottled water. They do bring in spring water to drink but I quite enjoyed the rain water lol. After 6 straight days it was hard to leave paradise on lava rock! Could use an upgrade on pillows lol but honestly, I would have been perfectly fine just sleeping in the hammock every night! Truly great people and place to be, couldn't ask for a better experience on the big island! Hope to return soon!
