The Tower House B&B

Our host Michael was conducting renovations but kept one ground floor double room available for us to honour an early booking. The property is historic and beautiful, backs onto the River Nore, with scenic views of the river from upstairs. Our room was very comfortable in every sense with an excellent bathroom & shower. The property includes secure off-street parking. Michael's Irish breakfasts were superb, served in a lovely upstairs breakfast nook and set us up well for our daily adventures. Thomastown is very quiet but acts as a great base to visit nearby sites such as Jerpoint Abbey, Kilkenny Castle and Kells Priory as well as some further afield like Waterford Crystal Factory, The Dunbrody Famine Ship in New Ross and Hook Lighthouse. With the renovations likely to now be completed, I highly recommend The Tower House B&B.

I've stayed here twice so far and both times have been delightful. The location is very convenient as there is a bust stop right in front. The property is beautiful with a gorgeous view of the river and the sound of the water is soothing. The owner, Michael, works very hard and is helpful with anything you might need. He prepares a delicious breakfast and was so kind as to make me a vegan option. I will be back!

We received a lovely warm welcome from Michael when we arrived at the Tower House B+B. Centrally located and right beside the river, the Tower House was spotless and comfortable. The view overlooking the river is breathtaking. Breakfast the following morning was absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend a visit.

Jardin charmant et bien entretenu qui donne sur la rivière. Petit déjeuner assez décevant contrairement aux commentaires que j’avais lu : brownie secs sur les coupes car cuisine depuis un moment, 4 demi tranches de pain de mie et une tranche de cake coupe en 2 pour 3…qui se sacrifie et regarde les autres manger ? Le tout dans une vaisselle ébréchée. Salle de bain fonctionnelle mais vieillotte (avec un miroir cassé) et étriquée. De bonnes intentions mais non transformées : des petits biscuits à disposition mais pas changés depuis un moment puisque tout mous et rancis. Chambre propre mais rustique : matelas qui vous informe systématiquement quand votre voisin se retourne. Les stores occultants ne sont pas étanches donc réveil au lever du soleil. En résumé : pour une nuit pour dépanner

This is a 6-room B&B managed by a couple. We only meet Micheal (The owner). He is friendly. It’s located in Thomastown - 25 minutes drive from Kilkenny City. The rooms are basic and simple. Rooms come with - Coffee/Tea - Set breakfast - Heater in room - Heated Bed - Hot shower, shampoo, bath gel, towel - Free car park - Daily Housekeeping - Outdoor sitting area - Free wifi - No lift - they got rooms on the ground and 1st floor (15-20 steps) Even tho it’s a small town but it’s a charming place to visit.

I stayed at The Tower House B&B for three nights in June 2022 and hope to return for a longer visit on my next trip to Ireland. The proprietors Trisha and Michael are very welcoming hosts who give you space and are always happy to answer questions and offer suggestions. They both helped arrange transportation for me and oriented me to Thomastown which is itself a very special, friendly place. The room I stayed in (the last room on the second story) was spotlessly clean and cozy and the bed very comfortable. There is a small table and chair in front of the room and the view of the River Nore and town from there is delightful. I enjoyed sitting out there in the morning with a cup of tea (there is a kettle, tea and some sweets in the room) before breakfast. I'd never had a full Irish breakfast before; The Tower House was the perfect place to avail myself of this bountiful traditional meal. The quality of the products Trish and Michael use are first rate and every breakfast I had at The Tower House was delicious. Thank you, Trisha and Michael, for a wonderful stay.
