Tombstone San Jose House

Very cute but outdated. Old windows with no screens. Ceiling fan would only stay on if light was on. Only one wall AC in back bedroom that was horribly loud and extremely old, for entire area. Tv had no local channels. APPs only. Only 1 tv. No table. Back bedroom window opens to see the wall of the next building. Very cute property. Historical property but if your looking for modern amenities this not the place for you.

A very nice place- exceeded my expectations-

I arrived to San Jose House May 8, 2018. Expected someone to be on duty, but no one was there. Found real estate locks on the doors. Called the three numbers listed on the managers door, the third number answered. He gave me the code to get in. Apparently, San Jose House sends a message to you a day before your arrival with the code, their assumption is that you have trip notifications sent to your phone, I had mine sent to my email, so did not get it until I returned home from my trip. After getting into the room, found that it was dated, but expected that. The kitchen sink looked like it didn't work, so I turned on the water and found it drained into a pot placed under the sink. With questionable plumbing and no one on duty, I found another place to stay. When I returned home from my trip, I found that I was charged for the room, I called and left a message, but was only refunded 50% as is their policy for not cancelling sooner. I do not recommend staying here.

Unless you really want to stay there for the history of the place (which isn't available anyway) then start looking elsewhere. We were in Unit 4. It was small, dark, uncomfortable and in need of a few repairs. The sink in the kitchen is an old acrylic one. It was once white, but is overdue for replacement. You'll need to bring a tea towel too as one isn't provided. If you're a large person the bathroom won't suit you; it's about the size of a closet. The lounge is low to the ground and not particularly comfortable. The Air conditioning is in the bedroom and sounded like a didgeridoo. There are plenty of other places to stay in and around Tombstone. By all means, go to Tombstone; it's wonderful! But I wouldn't go back to San Jose House.

First experience was I made a mistake on the arrival date of our stay and didn't notice until after I was done reserving this "GREAT" room. There is no going back to correct the dates. You have to cancel and restart the entire reservation process. Then I found out that my room rate ($202.14) was not going to be refunded 100%. They only refunded $101.07 which I was very upset about and don't know when I am to get the refund applied to my credit card. Do not make a mistake on your reservation! Next the room itself: where to begin?? The door was in desperate need of repair. It was extremely hard to open and it was literally scraping on the floor. The room had 2 beds one in the front area and one in the back. The beds were comfortable and had clean linen I'll say that. The TV was hard to understand how to work but we finally figured it out, there were light switches that did not turn on anything. The bathroom was atrocious! The door had a slide lock as you would find on a gate, the shower faucets were pulling away from the wall, there was only a partial roll of toilet paper and no spare, the rug in front of the shower looked as though it had never been washed or replaced. You sure did not want to walk around without shoes. The coffee pot must have been 10 years old, the base was so worn it did not keep the coffee hot. The air conditioner was not large enough, it barely kept the front room cool let alone get air to the back bedroom. There was a fan in the back bedroom. On the last morning there my friend sleeping in the back room was surprised to wake up from the ceiling tile falling on top of her. The floor under the beds must have never been cleaned as the dirt and dust was very visible. I will not recommend this hotel (room 2) to anyone. The value is not worth the price. The history of the hotel needs to be preserved and that means to make sure all amenities are available and the general cleanliness must be maintained. There is no staff available during the day

Beds were comfortable. Bathroom had to be cleaned.
