"It's good that there is an aquarium, but it is often empty or has only a label and no fish, and is poorly maintained. The food is disappointing. It seems to be aimed at old men who drink in the Showa era, and is not modern. There are too many sake snacks like salted fish and fish paste, and no healthy side dishes like vegetables or tofu. I ordered Genghis Khan, but it came with a set of sashimi, a one-person hotpot, and steamed dishes like shumai. But the Genghis Khan was lame. The balance was off. Even though it was privatized, the taste remains poor."

"Incredibly beautiful tradional japanese house. The host, dai treated us like family and upon arriving we took a walk to the local shrine which was only 100 steps away. Dai also helped us set up a campfire and even ran us and outdoor bath!. If im ever back in Tono I am most definitely retuning!"

"My wife and I were very happy with Hotel Kikuyuu. We knew we were getting a room without a private toilet and shower. Mr. Kikuchi was very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious delicious. The location was excellent. The room was quite small, but we knew that ahead of time. My wife wished that her bath/ofuro was more spacious. The women’s bath is quite small. For the price, this was a good value."
