Hotel Nicolaus

The Hotel Nicolaus is very close to the centre of Torun. The building has been nicely renovated and our room was a good size. But a couple of things let it down in it’s 4 star rating - Only 2 towels and no bath mat or hand towel in bathroom. Several things didn’t work in room - 2 lights and tv remote. Cleaning is by a system in room which lights up when u request cleaning. we did this but room still wasn’t cleaned. Staff were often not around and didn’t appear very happy to be there. ( may just have hit a bad day) I loved the boutique feel of hotel but it just missed the mark on a couple of things. However, stay wasn’t spoiled by this.

A great choice near the old town square. This is a great four-star hotel a half block from the old town main square. The hotel provides a clean modern room and a decent breakfast. The reception folk are very nice. Three points to be aware of: The A/C works great but is slow to cool the room. Close your blinds to keep the heat out. My bed was a very low platform bed. It was comfortable but some guests may have a problem getting in and out because it is so low. Parking for this hotel can be challenging. They have paid reserved street parking only. As you approach the hotel you will see large blue P signs with an envelope symbol and a notation with the hotel name on it. Park here. Get a windshield voucher from reception. You will see a few of these signs in front of the hotel as well. Take the first spot you see. You don’t want to drive in this neighborhood any more than you have to due to an abundance of one-way and blocked off streets.
