Château de Trigance

Als verjaardagscadeau een nacht verbleven in de rode suite van het kasteel. Wát een beleving! Bij de (her)inrichting van het hotel is zonder twijfel een goede interieurontwerper ingeschakeld geweest: de Middeleeuwse sfeer is behouden gebleven en er is gebruik gemaakt van luxe materialen. De suite voldeed aan alle verwachtingen om een romantisch verblijf te garanderen! Dat begint al bij de ontvangst: vriendelijk en hulpvaardig. Als de deur dan voor je geopend wordt is de aanblik van het zitgedeelte al prachtig, met een blik op het hemelbed. In de koelkast stonden 2 flesjes water klaar. De badkamer is voorzien van alle gemakken, o.a. een luxe set verzorgingsartikelen, een bad met (ingebouwde) douche en lekker zachte handdoeken. De grote verrassing is het terras, dat uit 2 gedeelten bestaat: een zitgedeelte met tafel en 4 stoelen (met kussens) én een wat ruiger gedeelte met bosschages en een bankje-voor-twee. Fijne buitenverlichting maakt het af! En dan het uitzicht: weliswaar voor een gedeelte op de parkeerplaats, maar ook nog voldoende zicht op het omliggende landschap. Wat ons bezoek zo uniek maakte: 's-avonds (en als je stil bent ook eventueel 's-nachts) hadden we toegang tot het gehele terras van het kasteel! Met een beetje fantasie waanden we ons kasteelheer en -vrouw. De serene rust, de maan die over de vallei scheen, in de verte het geluid van een uil, het dorpje Trigance aan je voeten... romantischer wordt het niet met een glas wijn samen in de hangstoel! En als je dan, zoals wij deden, óók nog de avond ervoor geniet van een 4-gangen culinair spectakel en erna van een vers gemaakt ontbijt, dan is de ervaring compleet. Al met al zéér de moeite (en de prijs) waard!

Abbiamo soggiornato due giorni in questo hotel caratteristico. La nostra camera arredata in stile medievale era comoda ed accogliente. Ottima la pulizia. La vera sorpresa è stato il ristorante, abbiamo scoperto una cucina eccellente, raffinata e sorprendente nei sapori. Una vera delizia per il palato come per gli occhi. Tutta la giovane equipe si è rilevata preparatissima, efficiente e cordiale (menzione speciale per Clementine :)). Bravissimi a tutti quanti! La terrazza del castello con la sua vista mozzafiato si è rilevata una location perfetta per l'aperitivo. La situazione del castello un buon punto di partenza per diverse escursioni.

We came across this exceptional place by coincidence, looking for a place to stay near Castellane (where the choice was limited). It is absolutely worth the small detour and the detour itself is of breathtaking beauty. The château offers a relatively small number of bedrooms, all of individual character and medieval charm, whilst having all the modern creature comforts you would expect. Private, secure parking is perfect for anyone driving the Route Napoléon with a classic car. I'm so impressed by the owners who have managed to make such a delightful place of what would otherwise be an austere, medieval building. And now I'll get to the best bit, the restaurant. We had an exquisite meal, the chef's got real talent. I had four pieces of tuna all prepared in different ways, accompanied by different declinations of watermelon (sounds weird but it was truly delicious), followed by a heavenly main of Wagyu beef and a cheese platter. I can't praise the chef enough. Some comments on this site refer to the restaurant as expensive. I would say it's great value. And the setting is unforgettable. And you can have the apéro downstairs in the beautiful vaulted salon, and even enjoy a game of pool in an oval room that even has queues adapted to the difficult angles. Well done guys, this hotel and it's restaurant is an exceptional achievement! And a special mention to the staff and especially the very attentive Hortense (?) who served us at dinner and breakfast.

Unique castle

Our stay at the castle in the French countryside was nothing short of magical. The interior design was authentically regal, making us feel like royalty from the moment we arrived. The staff exceeded our expectations, accommodating our every need, including setting up a rollaway bed for our odd number of children with ease. The location was ideal for our canyoning adventures, offering the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. The on-site restaurant served amazing food and graciously stayed open late to accommodate our late return. Enjoying drinks and cocktails on the outside deck before dinner was the perfect way to unwind. It was an absolutely perfect stay in every way.
