Martis Valley Lodge, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

When we checked in and the clerk said we were the Guest of the Day we thought he was joking. However, we were upgraded to a suite with a preferred parking space. Talk about feeling special. Our suite had a living/wet bar area and separate bedroom. In addition, there was a full bathroom with a shower and separate jacuzzi style tub. There was also a powder room off the living area. There was a TV in each living area, although a bit small for the spaces. The wet bar area included a microwave, fridge and sink. The living area had a couch, chair and desk. Wireless and wired internet although the wired internet appeared to be down. Complementary internet is fairly slow and not suitable for streaming. The bathroom was spacious but the lighting could be better in the shower. The bedroom had outlets on one side of the bed but not the other. Other than that, the outlets and lighting were good. The breakfast area is clean with adequate seating. The breakfast is better than most complimentary ones. The staff is fun and efficient.

We had an excellent time staying at this property. Our room was beautiful and super clean. The hotel has a great location and it's very nice. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was great and so convenient. We didn't end up using the pool but it looked very inviting...we saw other guest enjoying it very much. I really liked the decorations and colors used and the wonderful books in the common areas...great touch. Games available too. We will be back for sure...Highly recommend.

The customer service from upper management is subpar. The resolution given by the GM to an unacceptable experience was absolutely laughable. Pretty bad management for a Hilton

We were really impressed with the design and overall look of this Hampton Inn! It felt more like a lodge than a typical hotel. No issues with our stay and the staff let us change rooms after I discovered I didn’t like the location of our first room. We will stay here again if we are ever in this location again. Very convenient location to Lake Tahoe and Donner Memorial State Park.

This is a renovated Hampton Hotel. It overlooks on one side a huge lumber yard and the pool is very small. All rooms have comfortable beds and showers. Unfortunately the bathroom lights have motion detectors that function at night when one uses the bathroom. We asked the front office to have maintenance shut off the motion detector but the desk person said it could be reprogrammed. Well, the workman did not shut off the motion detector: he only made the light go off after a few minutes. We asked 2 more times to have the motion detector shut off entirely and it was never done in 2 more days. We taped a piece of paper over the motion detector but because the workman had "reprogrammed" the switch, we took showers in the dark for the next 2 days as the light kept switching off after a few minutes. Also I was pleased to see a lighted makeup mirror in the bathroom but it did not work. I opened the battery case and discovered the batteries had been installed improperly. Repairman: check your work before leaving the job and front office: make sure the work is done! $350/night is too much for this hotel.

It was lovely there. We loved the convenience of breakfast being included. I can’t wait to see them once there renovations are done.
