Blue Ocean Dive Resort

We shared the absolutely Delicious Rib and Wing Basket. The Wings came the a Yum dipping sauce. Those ribs were the. best I have tasted in KZN. They were tender , meaty and tasty. The Service was a huge improvement . Will definitely be back shortly

Primarily, the diving here is amazing. If you are a shark diving enthusiast you must check it out. I also had multiple encounters with dolphins, turtles, many types of rays and nudibranchs too. Good selection of dive sites including wrecks, reefs and swim throughs. The convenience of living at the dive centre is a bonus, you roll out of bed and are straight in the dive centre. It gives the place a real community vibe and makes organisation of the trips as easy as possibly. Rooms are decent and have everything you need, and there is wifi in the communal areas. The restobar is a cool place to hang out, and the menu even has a page of plant based options which was perfect for me as a vegan traveller. All of this is only made possible by the AMAZING, I repeat AMAZING team making the place run. Gary and Natasha are very friendly and flexible and get everything sorted for you. The real standout of my trip has to be the dive masters Turner and Chris. I have been diving many places but they have to be the hardest working divemasters I have seen. They are funny and friendly, but beneath this they are very conscientious, helping me to feel very safe and well taken care of on my dives even in less favourable conditions. They are amazing people and provide so much value to the company. They made my trip! THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Mein langjähriger Tauchpartner und ich waren fast 3 Wochen zu Gast in der Tauchbasis und Hotel. Uns hat der Aufenthalt sehr gut gefallen! Das ganze Basisteam ist sehr hilfsbereit, sehr nett und immer zur Stelle - Top! Die 3 Tauchguides, Chris, Georgia und Turner haben das sehr gut im Griff und bieten abwechslungsreiche Tauchgänge an - super! Vor allem das Tauchen mit Haien ist ein fantastisches Erlebnis! Das Meer ist ziemlich rau, d.h. recht wellig was man auch unterwasser gut mitbekommt. Die Fahrt mit dem Zodiac durch die hohe Brandung ist ebenfalls abenteuerlich und nicht jedermanns Sache. Eine Reisetablette gegen Übelkeit kann da helfen. Die Skipper sind Profis und können die Wellen richtig „lesen“. Das Hotel ist einfach und die Zimmer sind gemütlich. Auch im Restaurant findet wohl jeder etwas gutes zu essen. Auch gute Weine fehlen nicht. Wir können abenteuerlustigen Tauchern den Aufenthalt in dieser Basis und dem Hotel nur weiterempfehlen.

I spent 10 days at the resort which is in need of some refurbishment. The room was surprisingly good and was cleaned daily. The restaurant has a wide range of food and drinks, many people come from elsewhere to dine there. The dive centre itself is well kept but it lacks of proper communication between staff/DMs and divers. Good thing that diving in Aliwal Shoal is a gif that keeps on giving.

Das Blue Ocean Dive Resort (dive with us - stay with us) zeichnet sich nicht nur durch hohe Qualität und Service aus. Neben einer TOP Ausstattung sind es vor allem die motivierten und hilfsbereiten Menschen vor Ort (egal ob Divecenter, Guides, Chef, Service, Restaurant, ...), die das Kundenherz höher schlagen lassen. Mein Mann und ich fühlten uns sehr gut aufgehoben und als Teil des Teams - von Anfang an bis zum Schluss. Wenn man einen Wunsch hatte, wurde versucht, diesen zu erfüllen (egal ob ob es das Zimmer oder das Tauchen betraf). Die Zimmer werden alle nach und nach renoviert und sind sehr schön und liebevoll eingerichtet. Auch das Essen war immer sehr schmackhaft und qualitativ hochwertig und wurde frisch zubereitet. Das Tauchen mit dem Zodiac vom Fluss / Strand aus ist immer ein Erlebnis; insbesondere der Ritt durch die Brandung. Die Skipper wissen genau, was sie tun und kennen fast jede Welle. Die Guides sind sehr gut ausgebildet bzw. haben auch eine langjährige Erfahrung (wie Rae zum Beispiel). Dies kommt dann auch den Tauchern selbst zugute. Tauchen ins Südafrika ist nicht für "Sissis". Das stimmt. Es ist generell anspruchsvoll und kein Badewannentauchen (eher manchmal wie in einer Waschmaschine ;-) "insider vor Ort". Es ist immer wieder ein gutes Erlebnis und macht auf jeden Fall Spaß. Wer Haie sehen will, wird hier nicht enttäuscht. Bei (fast) jedem Tauchgang hatten wir welche sehen können. 7mm und Kopfhaube sind Pflicht (wir hatten 20-22 Grad Wassertemperatur). Die Oberflächenpausen finden selbstredend auf dem Zodiac statt und getaucht wird mit Nitrox, wobei man die Flaschengröße frei wählen kann. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen - wir planen wiederzukommen.
