Maison Salix

We had the most incredible stay at Maison Salix. Everything was beyond what we hoped for. The design of the house is absolutely beautiful, every detail is so thoughtful and tastefully done. The breakfasts were a real highlight, fresh, generous, and delicious, served in such a peaceful setting. Hugues was the kindest and most attentive host. You can really feel how much care he puts into every part of the experience. It’s rare to find a place that feels this special. We are already talking about when we can come back!

I can’t say enough good things about Maison Salix. It’s one of the most beautiful and charming places I’ve ever stayed. The restoration of the old mansion is impeccable, the rooms are absolutely stunning, as are the common areas. The large garden has a beautiful pool and tables where you have lovely breakfasts and dinners. The food is fresh, delicious and served with a smile. Hugues and his wonderful staff are the kindest, warmest people. They shared great tips for day trips, restaurants etc. we can’t wait to come back!

A wonderful experience. Staying at Maison Salix is hard to describe, it’s more of a feeling, like staying with close family but without any obligation. The 600 year old ‘Maison’ is just stunning, recently renovated and beautifully curated it has the perfect mix of traditional and modern, with impeccable detail. The garden and pool area is a little Provence oasis with a beautiful selection of plants and if you come from a city like us, the microcosm of wildlife is such a rarity and you can easily spend the days there relaxing with a book peacefully if a true break is what you’re after. There is a the pool for a refreshing swim or dip and a fully kitted out gym to burn off the croissants should you desire, Kurt is the go to here, an experienced trainer with expert nutrition knowledge you can really try something new and learn how to live a more healthier lifestyle if that’s something you’re interested in, if not it’s not forced just personal to you. The food is just exceptional, breakfast consisted of a number of healthy options; plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurt, overnight oats, eggs and avocado and the odd not so healthy croissant and fresh French bread but that’s what holidays are for! Again everything is personal, if you want something but not something else that’s never a problem, Hugues one of the friendliest people you will meet and will make sure breakfast is one of the favourite times of day. Dinners are always delicious, it’s a fresh and changing daily menu with delicious clean plates that are full of flavour and keep you feeling light and happy. During our stay we had a full range of dishes from salmon tartare, grilled chicken, Portuguese style monkfish in rice and grilled octopus. Dinners are a set three dishes which takes away any guesswork and decision making along with a great opportunity to try new things. Location is perfect, the village is quiet and friendly and a 20min drive from Arles or Avignon with plenty of smaller towns worth visiting at a similar distance. Speak to Kurt or Hugues and they will guide you depending on what you want to see. The full team: Hugues, Kurt, Vincent, Malika and Marcel are just amazing they are warm, friendly and professional with an incredible eye for detail and all ensure the experience is personal to you, nothing is too much trouble and all the team are incredibly thoughtful and caring, the cleaning is meticulous and returning to the suite always brings a smile to your face. We enjoyed our stay at Maison Salix and felt like we were leaving family at the end of the break. Staying here is a must if visiting Provence a true rejuvenation of the body and mind. We will definitely be back again!

A hidden gem close to Avignon, only 20min drive away. The decoration and interior are stunning... A true piece of art, an eclectic mix of old and modern luxury. Super clean and great facilities (pool). The hosts (Kurt & Hugues) are very friendly, smiling and go the extra mile to make your stay perfect. Will definitely return.

We have been very fortunate to stay in some lovely hotels in the last few years, and each time we wonder how our experience can be bettered. We have just spent 7 amazing nights at Maison Salix and we have a new benchmark! This beautifully restored Provençal building is absolutely stunning throughout, maintaining its traditional architecture with stylish modernisation and works of art. From the stylish interiors, to the gorgeous landscaped gardens, everything has been completed to the highest standards. The guest rooms are incredible. We were lucky to have booked our stay in The Pool Lodge, which has a private garden, complete with its own swimming pool. It also has a small kitchen, which we used to prepare lunch, make coffee etc. What really sets Maison Salix apart from other hotels, is the service provided by the two owners; Hugues and Kurt. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like house guests, not just hotel guests. From preparing and serving the delicious daily breakfast, to recommending local restaurants and attractions, nothing was too much trouble. On top of this, every other night they prepare a delicious 3 course dinner, which we enjoyed on 4 occasions. This really is a 5* experience, and we would have no hesitation in returning.
