This is one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed at. A Family run hotel lead very professionally by Antonello, who runs it seamlessly with an amazing group of staff who made us feel like part of the family from breakfast through to dinner. The hotel is 100% what you would expect if you are seeking an authentic Italian experience. From the beautiful decor, the culture and the delicious freshly cooked, locally sourced Italian food. There is a real effort made to the little attention to detail that makes a stay very special. Slippers in the room, shower caps and other little bits of toiletries in the bathroom that add the feel of a special treatment. In the bar you can see a staff member hand polishing all of the glassware to make them sparkle so that you can enjoy your beverages in sparkling clean glasses. The rooms are pristine, beautifully dressed and very comfortable. The hotel has spacious car parking, a gorgeous terrace with restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a fabulous pool and sun lounge area. There is no need to leave the hotel as all of your holiday needs are catered for- even for children. Nothing is too much for the staff- if you ask for anything they will do their best to accommodate your every need. The whole experience was priceless- we were welcomed with open arms and made to feel like the very first guests to have walked through the door! And… the view! The view is one of the most instagramable, picturesque and amazing vistas because the hotel lies high in the mountains in Ventimiglia meaning you enjoy a stunning view of the Italian, French and Monaco riviera. Take the longer route up the mountain through the town of Ventimiglia and before you know it you could be sitting out on the terrace at night with a glass of wine, a good book and enjoying the glittering lights of San Remo, Ventimiglia, Menton and Monaco below you! It really is a romantic and fairytale setting. Perfect for families, couples or with a group of friends. An escape from a busy life to be able to just slow down and enjoy time to unwind, relax and be looked after by a group of very special staff who make Hotel La Riserva di Castel d'Appio such a special place to stay at. This was a quiet, relaxing friendly and high quality hotel. It had an amazing view from our balcony, and daily breakfast on the terrace was a joy all of its own. I will definitely be returning again. The staff were also very warm and friendly. X

Old World Charm I can’t say enough about the kind, accommodating and wonderful people that keep this place in excellent condition. The food is delicious, but make a reservation for a spectacular view. It’s an old world charm kinda vibe.. If you are looking for a place to chill & relax - I highly recommend this lil dive..!

Yes! But there is a but Use the longest way up. The shortest kills your car(or you). Nice food, but small and expencive portions. Nice room. Good classic feeling of this private hotel. Exeptional wiev

4 night stay Service was good, be mindful this hotel is at the top of what is essentially a mountain. The drive up and down is actually scary to the point of wanting to avoid coming and going from the hotel. However There are no shops or restaurants within walking distance of the hotel therefore it can feel a bit isolating. Taxis are £25 euro each way into the local town. The food and drinks at the hotel is expensive and you will be charged 5 euro for a bottle of water which seems crazy and roughly 8/9 euros for a class of wine. The breakfast was lovely, lots of options and service was very good. The main attraction to this hotel is the view which is stunning. The pool area is also very nice and clean. It is overall pretty expensive but you are paying for the view. It is a family run establishment and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. We read the previous comments about the drive up to the hotel before booking but really could not appreciate just how unpleasant this was until we had to do it ourselves and how restrictive it made our stay. Overall nice hotel if you can stomach the drive. Pretty expensive. The mattress was also pretty hard and uncomfortable but got used to it after a few nights.
