"We stayed just one night at Quinta do Estranda and wished it had been longer. This is a real, working farmhouse quinta — not one of those polished river-view estates, but something more authentic. Acres of vineyards are grown as nature intended, with minimal intervention, under the care of owner Luís Lacerda, a 7th-generation winemaker who clearly pours his heart into every bottle. Luís personally hosts the wine tasting, and it’s a highlight of the stay. His white blend, aged around 6 months in American oak barrels, is out of this world — full of character and completely different from anything mass-produced. You can tell this is a passion project passed down through generations, not just a business. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable — simple but perfectly restful after a day of tasting. Dinner and breakfast are à la carte and gourmet, and pair beautifully with the wine tasting beforehand. Every meal felt thoughtfully prepared. If you want a genuine, unpretentious taste of the Douro Valley and the chance to meet the winemaker himself, Quinta do Estranda is well worth a visit. We can’t wait to go back for longer next time."
