Our family of 15 had an excellent stay at this wonderfully located hotel. We were spread out over four different rooms and appreciated being on the same floor. Everything from the balconies to spacious rooms to friendly staff made this stay perfect. Family vacations can be stressful, but I highly recommend staying here if you have a large group or need multiple rooms. The beds were really comfortable and having the separate wet bar/kitchenette was so beneficial. There are plenty of restaurants located within walking distance, but The Dunes on-site was spectacular. I highly recommend trying their food and drinks which were reasonably priced and so delicious. The breakfast buffet was also excellent; however, quite busy. I never had a problem as an early-riser; however, around 8AM the line was extremely long. Both pools on the property were well-maintained and clean, and the hot tub at the outdoor pool was excellent. I need to give a special shout-out to Marcus at the front desk for being so helpful and efficient. The only cons I can think of are: the Wi-Fi is spotty and didn't always have a strong signal (but I wasn't at the beach to use the internet). There is a major lack of storage/drawers in the room but the closet is spacious. And the pillows are really small - but we had extra within minutes of requesting more. I will also add that parking was simple. The elevators were all in working order and fast. And there was virtually no noise coming through the walls. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a nice oceanfront hotel. There are many positives, but some negatives. Positives: 1. Easy beach access, 2. restaurant with good food, 3. Indoor and outdoor pool, 4. breakfast included (albeit, very small cereal bowls), 5. nice decor, 6. friendly staff (for the most part), 7. fitness center 8. small kitchenette with extra sink in the room. There probably are more positives, but let's move on. Negatives: 1. hotel lobby is kept frigidly cold, 2. beds are uncomfortable. The hotel went under renovation recently. I'm not sure if the beds were new, but if so, the ones in room 1104 got beaten up by the time we arrived. 3. storage space is severely lacking in the room. How about more drawers to unpack. There are two small drawers in the dresser, one tiny drawer on the nightstand, and one drawer in the kitchenette, 4. dirty bathroom floor upon arrival. 5. The last thing I would like to mention are the hotel luggage carts. Upon arrival, many people were checking in, so there were no carts for us. We had take about 4-5 trips from car to room with our luggage. Because this was a busy check in time, we understood that the carts were being used. BUT, the day we checked out, we wanted to get an early start on the road. There were no carts at 6:30 a.m.!! We again had to take about 5 trips to the car. The whole time, we did not see one person with luggage on a cart packing their cars to leave. People either had to take the carts early to their rooms for departure significantly later, or had taken the carts the night before. We were not the only ones carrying and dragging our luggage. There was another older gentleman doing the same thing. We had suggested to the man at the front desk to have a system where you can only use a cart for a period of time, say 15 minutes. He looked as if he couldn't have been more disinterested in what we were saying.

I spent two nights at the Springhill Suites Virginia Beach and had a great time. My stay was right before July 4th weekend, so the hotel was quite busy. I booked a king room, which was very spacious and appeared to be recently renovated. There was a living area with sofa/trundle bed and a partial wall dividing it off from the bedroom. All have rooms a balcony facing the boardwalk and beach. On the afternoon of my arrival, it was pouring rain, so I tried the indoor pool. The water was pretty cool, but it was still enjoyable. There's also a small gym. The next day was completely sunny, so the outdoor pool with lounge chairs was terrific. I spent a lot of time researching hotels, and the Springhill had one of the largest outdoor pools along Virginia Beach. Lunch from the poolside bar was pretty good and prices were reasonable, especially coming from NYC. This is an excellent hotel for families, as rooms can sleep a minimum of 4 people. Plus a decent breakfast buffet was included. The offerings were pretty standard for free buffets, such as a waffle station and juice machine, but the rotation of hot items (french toast sticks, pre-made omelettes, biscuits and gravy, etc.) seemed more extensive. Even at 7:30am, the breakfast area was packed with guests. I was surprised at the number of negative reviews, since my stay was quite good. The only issues were the lack of an in-room safe (surprising!) and a clogged bathtub drain. However, once I notified the front desk, maintenance quickly resolved the clog. Also, be aware that housekeeping is only available every other day. Staff was at reception and the pool bar were all friendly. If I return to Virginia Beach, I'd gladly stay here again!

We spent 2 nights in a 1 bedroom suite on the second floor, room 213. The 2 mattresses on the beds were completely broken down, like sleeping in a bowl. Only one person can sleep in each bed because you fall into the middle bent in half. We complained to the front desk and was told the mattresses were only 1 year old... they're still broke down, and I don't care how old they are, broke is broke. Tge sliding glass door was very hard to open and close, especially from the outside. My husband had to do it for myself and my granddaughter. There were tons of gnats in the room and small flies. Lastly, the shower floor looked filthy and stained. I used a wash rag to get some of it off. For $1000 for 2 nights, this is completely unacceptable. I have been a marriott rewards member for many years and normally love spring hill suites, but this room has not been maintained at all. The patio and view are nice, but someone kept throwing bread, forks, and bottle caps diwn on our patio from the 10th floor, I watched them do it multiple times. Reported it to the front desk, but that did no good. Wouldn't stay at this hotel again just because there was no manager that would return my call until late on the day when it was too late to do anything. Was told to call on Tuesday at 10 am to speak with JD, the real manager, but they also said he would not do anything about any of it, so why call. I plan to call him on Tuesday, June 2nd, anyway, because this room needs to be worked on no matter what.
