The Ocean Key Virginia Beach Resort

Room was spacious and the hotel was very close to the beach. Not a great design of the room, had a suite, and the first bedroom was at the door, with a closing and locking door leading to the kitchen and bathroom, then the living room, next to the matter bedroom, so not much privacy for the people staying in the smaller bedroom. Facility is not very well taken care of. I had no shower curtain in my bathroom and the plumbing had issues in both restrooms. Found a used towel and a hair in the shower when I first got in. Also, the first bedroom was right by the hall, so all the noise from the adjacent rooms and the hallway was very loud and made it very hard to get any rest for my kids. Overall, our family had a decent stay. We were happy to have plenty of space, a full kitchen, and to be so close to the beach. Support staff was friendly and helpful, but front desk staff didn't give much info or help make the stay more comfortable.

Location only a block away from the beach. We had a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite which was nice. Bedrooms/Livingroom were good size Hot tub and pool were nice and clean On site parking garage Small kitchen full size fridge, stove top and microwave/convection oven within walking distance to restaurants and stores/souvenir shops Only had 1 small window in one of the bedrooms

The first morning (we had checked in approx midnight), I spoke with manager Sherri (sp?), about the serious problems in my room. The biggest problem was that the cleaning staff had done an abysmal job in our unit (room 414). The master room king bed had been made up with a double-sized fitted sheet, which of course didn't even come close to reaching the bottom of the bed. There is no way this could have been accidentally missed. When I pulled back the blankets, I saw mattress and the bottom sheet was so small compared to the bed that you couldn't possibly reach the bottom of the mattress with it, I tried. The master room bathroom was missing the spring-bar that holds the toilet paper and there was no toiled paper at all in the bathroom. The floors were covered in sand, hair, and crumbs that you could visually see. There was a large sandy footprint on the arm of the sofa that needed to be vacuumed/cleaned off. Sherri got the staff to change my bedding so that the mattress was covered. I found the toiled paper spring-bar in the closed and the ladies at the front desk gave me some toiled paper. I asked for a broom or vacuum the first night and again when I called Sherri to let her know the bed was taken care of, but not the floor. I wanted to take care of the disgusting floor. I was told by Sherri that someone would come up and take care of it. I stayed in my unit the rest of the day and night, no one came. At that point, I was tired of dealing with not getting it taken care of and we just wore shoes or socks when in the unit. We also avoided the right side of the sofa. Sherri never called back to check if it was taken care of. Important to note: There are only 2 sets of washers/dryers for the entire 7 floors of rooms. One set on the 6th floor and one set on the 8th floor. While I was there, 8/1-8/8/25, the washer on the 8th floor was out of order and there was always someone waiting to use the washer on the 6th floor. Pack accordingly . The location is GREAT! One street from the beach, easy access. The restaurant that you access from the first floor, Roma Pizza, is delicious with a wide variety of options and decent prices. Staff are friendly. The problems mostly come from Ocean Key Resort using an outside agency for cleaning. So they have no power or access to fire someone who does deliberate things (see info above about fitted sheet, toiled paper issue, etc.)

Where do we start? Many maintenance/condition issues. We have stayed here multiple times. First time since Vacatia bought VSA. Not an improvement. Invited to an Owner's Meeting which, essentially, wanted us to pay more for our timeshare. We were under the understanding that it would give us advice on relinquishing our timeshare. Was told not high pressure. Wrong. When we refused their option to convert our timeshare, it was not a pleasant situation.

Location was the best part of this resort resort needs upgraded and things need to be replaced getting very worn can opener didn't work disher soap holder broken

I was happy with the location but the room was very dirty. Ruined the entire exerience for myself and my best friend!
