Simmer Motel

Actually we live next to the motel, and are acquainted with the new owner. The place has been bought by the Wamego Inn across the highway, and they will keep the Simmer name but have consolidated operations. Check in is now done as the Wamego Inn. Also, they've done a complete remodel of the nightly rooms. The oldest building, as shown in the page illustration, is changing to longer term rentals.

Nice place for the price! Clean, kitchenette. "Single" room that I stayed in is essentially a nice little studio apartment w/out a stove. Fridge, microwave, front room with couch and table and chairs and separate bedroom. No longer have a swimming pool, so they need to take that down from their website. But very reasonable, clean place. No bells and whistles, but plenty of space and basic conveniences.

For the price I paid, I expected the basic run of the mill hotel, the outside of the hotel is plain, and something you would find on the side of the road for a quick break, need to rest situation. We were BLOWN away when we got in to our room, it was comfortable, clean, welcoming. I am not kidding.....We felt so relaxed in the room it was unbelievable. No noise, No problems, no nothing, It was the PERFECT get away to just relax. There were even pictures on the wall and decorations! Ive never stayed in a place that was so welcoming. The hotel is near a Dollar General, and a GREAT Mexican resturant that will serve to go margaritas and they are STRONG! no joke.....do not stay anywhere else but here if you are in the area.......Check in was easy, communication was superb. What a great place. We will be making this a once a month thing at this hotel because it is that great!

Amazing classic motor lodge set back off the road amongst towering oak trees! Only about one mile from downtown Wamego and all things Wizard of OZ. I stayed in the OZ SUITE and it was incredibly detailed!

There were 3 overhead nights, only 2 working, The microwave dirty was dirty (had food in it). Smoke detector was duct taped. There was a yellow stain on bedding on one of the beds. We checked in at 3:00 PM and checked out a 3:30 PM.

It worked out just fine. It was nothing special but good enough. Traveled in for K-State game and was unwilling to pay the $400 a night they wanted in Manhattan so we went with this. Gave us the opportunity to visit the Oz museum too. Motel is nothing to write home about but as stated “it’ll do”
