Kind host, but not the right fit for me
I stayed here during peak season and appreciated the affordable rate, but in hindsight, I wouldn't choose to save money this way again. The host was lovely—very kind and even gave me a ride when I needed help, which I was genuinely grateful for.
However, the environment just didn’t feel comfortable or secure for me. There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke that hit the moment we walked through the front door. We’d hold our breath to grab our keys and quickly get to our room. Even with the window open, the smoke drifted in from the outdoor bistro table directly outside our room where others were frequently smoking—so there was really no escape from it.
The house is divided into several guest rooms, some of which connect through shared bathrooms. At one point, someone unlocked the adjoining bathroom door and accidentally entered our space while I was getting ready, even though I had followed the instructions to lock their side. That, along with the sound of doors opening and closing throughout the night, left me feeling quite on edge. Each room has a chain lock, which was reassuring, but it didn’t completely put me at ease.
There’s a fast turnover of guests, and while that’s expected at a lower price point, the overall vibe just felt a bit unsettling—somewhere between makeshift hostel and low-budget boarding house.
The kindness of the host was the highlight, but unfortunately, the stay didn’t feel restful or safe for me personally.
