I stayed at the Wingate by Wyndham in West Monroe LA March 27-29, 2026; I was in town to volunteer at a community event held in nearby Calhoun LA. It was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. • When I left my room at approximately 6:30 a.m. on March 28, I left a do not disturb placard on my door. When I returned that evening, my room had obviously been entered: the do not disturb placard was in the middle of the floor, the bathroom light was turned on, and a stack of linens was on the desk. MOST DISTURBING WAS THAT MY ROOM DOOR WAS STANDING OPEN TO THE HALLWAY. • I had no hot water for the entirety of my stay. Even after a prolonged period of time for it to warm up, the water never reached warmer than room temperature. • On March 29, I found a large number of ants in my bathroom. They were all over the counter and in the sink, and had gotten into the linens and my personal belongings. • The room telephone was inoperable: there was no cord connecting the handset to the base. • The lack of a toilet paper holder forced the toilet paper to be placed on unsanitary surfaces. • The room air conditioner did not hold temperature to within a range of the set temperature. • The ice machines for floors 2 and 3 were missing. • The ice machine on floor 1 was held together with blue masking tape that was loose and falling off. • The lights over the entry and refrigerator area in my room did not work. • The light switch at the door to my room did not work. • The light switch next to the bed did not work. • The artwork that was to be hanging to the left of the TV was missing; the hangers were still in the wall. • I had to request a do not disturb placard from the front desk. • I had to request a hair dryer from the front desk. • The safe in my room was inoperable. The locking shafts were extended with the safe door open; there was no way to retract the locking shafts or close the safe door. • The iron was falling out of the wall in the closet. • Housekeeping was, in general, abysmal. The insides of the drawers were filthy with spills and roach or small rodent droppings; the arms and seat cushion of the occasional chair in my room were badly stained and dirty to the touch; cabinetry, mirrors, and countertops were dirty; and the carpet was stained. • The breakfast area was extremely dark, including the food surfaces. I have reported this egregious situation in person, via e-mail, and via online customer service form to hotel management and to Wyndham corporate offices multiple times, starting the day my room was left unlocked and standing open to the hallway. I have made multiple efforts to resolve this privately and professionally without resorting to public comment. Sadly, neither hotel management nor Wyndham Hotels has made any effort toward resolution over the 18 days since my stay. The front desk employee when I checked in was extremely pleasant, as was the Assistant GM with whom I checked out. Every other aspect of the stay was horr
