Bukela Game Lodge - Amakhala Game Reserve

This trip exceeded all our expectations! The lodge was simple, yet elegant! The luxury tent was amazing! Loved that there were only 28 guests maximum. Food was delicious and plentiful! Staff were lovely - friendly and attentive. The daily drives were great! We saw so many animals and our guide, Corlia, was incredible! Knowledgeable and friendly! Made great friends with the folks in our safari vehicle. Would definitely recommend to others! It was a bucket list trip for us and we were not disappointed!

We had a wonderful time at Bukela Lodge. We stayed in one of the luxury tents and it was luxury and comfortable. As someone who has quite bad reactions to mosquito bites i was really relieved to find that there was protection in the mesh to stop them coming in and i didn't get one bite. My only negative if i have one was that our tent was the furthest from the facilities and right at the top, looking around, i think we were probably the oldest guests there at 70 that was hard going every time we wanted to get back. The staff at the lodge were really welcoming and helpful and always remembered out names. Big shout out to Zeus and SJ who were charming and helpful. Our guide Abby was great, really informative and fun and we managed to find all the animals, even witnessed two males lions chasing a warthog and sadly, two lionesses who had just caught a baby giraffe (sad) We enjoyed the evening drives and drinking gin amongst the giraffes. Breakfast was great, lunch for me could have been lighter, it really was 3 full meals a day and Im not used to that. altogether a great experience.

We had such an incredible time whilst visiting Bukela. Our luxury tent was very comfortable and clean. The food was plentiful and good. Abbey was our ranger. She was very knowledgeable,great company as well as finding so many animals. Our final morning culminated in watching a cheetah hunt. Great place to visit.

Touren waren ok allerdings 5 Uhr aufstehen nicht wirklich unsers. Essen unterirdisch für den hohen Preis. Sonst gab es Null,null was man machen kann. Hatten 2 Nächte gebucht, Eine mehr als genug. Keine Weiterempfehlung ,schade hatten uns mehr versprochen

Bukela is in an amazing location for a South Africa experience with plenty of interesting wildlife to see (even in the resort!). The twice daily game drives were amazing and the ranger’s knowledge (particularly Mundai) was second to none with brilliant customer service. Lodges were great but we needed a bit more light in the room sometimes and we had issues with sand in our water. This was because of an elephant (!) digging up pipes and the staff did address this and were always very helpful and friendly. Food could be improved on in the restaurant e.g. at a 5 star resort we didn’t expect to have to pre-order our food for the evening. Felt like meals were pre-made. Breakfast was the best meal and was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We had a luxury tent. It was fantastic. There is plenty of space between each tent/lodge so it feels very private. I enjoyed relaxing in the large bath looking out at the view - even able to watch impalas moving on the hillside next to our tent. Each panel of the tent can be unzipped and rolled up so the view is spectacular - there is mesh, so no insects can get in. Breakfasts (there are 2 - one before and one after the morning game drives) are great, lunch and dinner also really nice and it's all-inclusive so enjoy the wine, beer and cocktails without having to worry about the bill. The dress code is whatever you like - you can go smart if you want to or you can go straight to late breakfast and dinner as soon as you finish the game drives. The staff are wonderful and very happy to help with anything. The best thing about staying here though are the game drives. 6.00 - 9.00 in the morning and 4.00- 7.00 in the evening. Yes, it's an early start, but so worth it. Our ranger (Munday - that's probably spelt wrong) was brilliant. He answered all of our questions thoroughly, and he's a great tracker. I can't remember all of the animals and birds that we saw but we saw cheetahs eating a wildebeest, lions, red hartebeests, impalas, oryx, eland, jackals, rhinos, hippo, buffaloes, ostriches, secretary birds, zebras...and many more. We stayed for 3 nights, but wish we had stayed longer.
