Anchor Head Hotel

Fantastic Week Away At The Anchor Head Hotel. Great location, Spotlessly Clean, Friendly Staff, Good Selection Of Food, you can always find something you like on the menu. Staff are Lovely, Friendly and Helpful. We Went With Alfa Travel, Met some lovely people we went on 2nd March for a week, the view from the Dinning is Brilliant, Had great Days Out, Cheddar Gorge you only need and hour tops, unless you are fit and can get up or down steep high steps, it would have been better not to have as long and to pull into the coach car park to take some photo`s of the Gorge, and spend more time in Wells, as two hours at the Gorge with only a couple of shops and a café , the others shops ect were all closed. other than that the day trips were really Good, I would advise not to book the lady tour guide on the Coach for £7.50, as you only get off to see the Circle , and points everything else out, depending where you are sat on the Coach you can`t see a thing, so Jump on a Big Red Bus, and go into the park across from where the Alfa Coach drops you, as you get more information and better views ect. Our Driver Tim was good and made our journey and trips out enjoyable. The entertainment, let them know if you don't want 50`s & 60`s music, as they seem to think if pensioners that`s all you want, but if you ask for the kind of Music you like they will sing it, we even had Opera included on the Wednesday night, it was Great, must admit I did think I had gone to the asylum on Tuesday with the singer who sang Running Bear Loved Little White Dove and did a stupid Dance. but we did cry laughing at him as we thought we had seen everything. But I have to admit we had a Fantastic week, due to the Hotel, The Staff and The New Friends we Made, It is Brilliant Value for Money, so Good My Sister and her friend want to go next Year so We said we would go again, and visit the things we did not have time to fit in as plenty to see and do, and just to let you know Do not eat at Revo Cafe on the Beach ok for Coffee but food inedible, and expensive. so stay clear.only went as I met up with an old School Friend, she was sorry and felt awful she suggested it to us. But I Can not recommend The Hotel enough for Value for Money, Cleanliness and Very Friendly. Do Not Hesitate To Book. Thank You To Manus, Dave and all the Staff at The Anchor Head Hotel. Lovely comfy bed small room but very clean had sea view beautiful views fantastic food and staff drinks free drink at night. Receptionist and manager excellent good entertainment food lovely and filling. Very clean and very quiet basic room very warm inside and cosy in hotel room. Would recommend and this is my second stay here I really like this hotel fast service lovely views of the Bristol channel and sea

Travelled with Alfa which I have used before. Poor quality food sometimes not resembling what is advertised eg vegetarian lasagne with no vegetables at all (or anything else except floppy lasagne sheets). I had to return most of my meals. Room was well in need of re-decoration. Bedding and towels clean. Entertainment as expected. Our waiter Harry was attentive. Complaint made to manager re food and told normally have good reviews!

I stopped here with my elderly mum on an Alfa Travel coach holiday. I didn't have any expectations to be honest, but I was pleasantly surprised :) The hotel is in need of an update BUT it was kept clean and tidy and the staff were lovely - very friendly and they went out of their way to help you. The food was quite good and there was a fair selection at breakfast and dinner and you also got an alcoholic drink with your dinner. We had a sea view room and it was good to watch the sea come in and then go back out and the sunset was pretty amazing too! My only complaint about the room was the fact it got very warm and it was not possible to open the window even a little bit to let some air in so on some days we would prop open the bedroom door to let some air in! It did get quite uncomfortable at night and this is why I have given it three stars. The entertainment at night was ok - but definitely catered towards a much older crowd. It was a short walk to the beach and the town and there was a decent selection of shops and restaurants. All in all, we enjoyed our time at the hotel :)

We lived the hotel and the room either a sea view was nice and comfortable it could do with a 2 pin socket in the bathroom for a shaver or recharge of an electric toothbrush towels were to die for and the shower was one of the best we have had. Food was of a good choice each day the bar and lounge area the entertainment was really good the trips out were fantastic and we had a very knowledgeable driver who was very polite and professional and helpful, overall we will return in the future also all the staff were very polite and helpful nothing was to much for them so thanks to Alpha and leisureplex for an enjoyable 5 days. just had a great stay at the anchor head hotel ,we traveled with Alfa coaches and our driver Craig was excellent ,the hotel is a bit dated but clean,the staff worked very hard to please,special mention to the bar manager Dave who seemed to do everything, the meals were varied, plenty of choice and good quality, entertainment was excellent, our room number 1 was lovely,plenty of room and a really comfortable bed,the trip to Dunster was really nice but did not enjoy Minehead a very tired place,all in all all a nice break.
