The French Country House, Tauranga

Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to delay our visit twice but finally made it last weekend. How fabulous. Our host was Lukas and what an interesting chap he is. He makes the best canapes and irons the crispest sheets. Nothing is too much trouble. We had the farm view room with the balcony, but they are all lovely. We also met Wayne, the owner and heard his life story. The decor is beautiful as can be seen by the pictures, but nothing I can say would do it justice. We just loved it. Home away from home, but afraid our home is not so lovely.

Loved the relaxed peaceful environment, Anne was welcoming and friendly I would say a excellent host. The Lodge was stunning and well appointed we were a bit spoilt as we were the only ones booked for that evening and had the luxury of having the entire place to ourselves. The grounds were beautifully looked after which made for some fantastic photos, will definitely be coming back during summer to relax again

French Country House is a magical place. Spacious and substantial, yet homey and friendly. The weather-worm wood in the beams and doors, and the steep stairs to the upper room (you'll make it) create a sense of stepping back in time. We were treated as casual royalty yet also left to our own space (she's got a great sense for that) to kick back from an otherwise busy trip. The view from the huge deck, looking across panoramic rolling farmland and woods to the harbor with it sharp peak, defies words. I begged to stay a second night, and we did. There's WiFi when you need it, but plenty of reason to ignore all screens during your stay.

An unforgettable stay here! An absolute stunning house with a superb view across Tauranga to the Mount! The only problem was the manager was ill and there were no staff. Wayne did look after us & ensure that we had what we required but they need to hire staff!

Just back to Australia after a couple of weeks in NZ, including 2 nights at the memorable French Country House in Tauranga. Under the care of host Kay Pierson and her canine assistant Billy, we enjoyed the extraordinary attention to detail of this unique and beautiful house and its facilities. Kay is delightful company, generous with her time and draws on her deep experience of hospitality to give her guests a very personal experience. She is very knowledgeable of the area with good suggestions for activities including local restaurants.

We had the pleasure of staying at the French Country House near Tauranga for two nights in October. What a great experience, made even better by our amazing host Kay. The property and the attention to detail that has gone into its construction is amazing.You were made to feel as if you were staying in a private luxury chateau in France. From the moment we arrived Kay made every effort to ensuring that we had a memorable stay, from the welcome drinks and canapes,organising dinner at a local restaurant (which was very good),presenting a great breakfast and suggested site seeing options. The stay at this property was the highlight of our New Zealand holiday and I highly recommend this property. Thank you again Kay for making our stay so enjoyable.
