Travelodge Winchester

Never again! This is the last time I will stay in a Travelodge. The air conditioning only ran for around a minute. Windows do not open, it was so hot I almost walked out in the night or sat in the shower to cool down. What must it be like in the summer?? I see that other folk have had similar problems.

A perfectly decent, budget hotel with the usual reasonably sized well maintained Travelodge rooms. Although it's on a sidestreet it isn't as quiet as you might expect - there seemed to be delivery vans charging up and down all the time. But it seemed quiet at night and is well placed for the centre of Winchester. The High Street with all it shops and places to eat and drink is virtually round the corner, and the cathedral is an easy walk away. There is no parking, but there are car parks nearby. We used the Friarsgate car park, which is also a very short walk from the hotel. Overnight parking is expensive - £18 for us in June 2025 - but as we were only staying for one night it was worth it for the convenience. The nearby Rick Stein restaurant is highly recommended!

Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Will and Ros, both at the reception desk and within the restaurant. The food was delicious with a freshly made Thai curry and spicy burger. The meal deal which included dinner as well as breakfast was a really good option. Vegetarians were well catered for.
