Well now, my partner and I stayed here back in January, we travel a lot and get up to the lakes as regularly as we can. We had long discussed a stay at the Langdale chase and so the opportunity arose for us on this trip in what turned out to be a few bleak January days. So as we arrived I got out from my car to get the cases from the boot. I swear that he lady from reception magically appeared at the boot with an umbrella, whipped the cases off me and took them inside, along with me and my wife, under the umbrella. Before I knew it we were being checked in by a very pleasant receptionist. then straight upstairs to the room where our cases were already there. The room was outstanding, clean spacious and perfectly tidy. we then quickly unpacked and went out to explore the amazing features of the hotel. The hotel is tastefully decorated and kept in line with much of the original architecture. We used the spa which was again immaculately clean and then went and enjoyed our complimentary champagne. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and again at breakfast, when we were lucky enough to get a window table overlooking Windermere. After a stroll around the gardens we sadly packed up and left but left feeling relaxed and happy with our stay.

Stunning location and we had a lake view room which is definitely worth paying to upgrade to. Room 24 has a small seating area in an alcove which was great in the sunshine but imagine it’s cosy in the winter too. Nice touch with a coffee machine/kettle in this area with good choice of refreshments. Bathroom was luxurious with a very comfortable bath, large shower, fluffy towels and bath house products. Could do with more than one size of slippers as I’m sure male guests like my husband would find they don’t fit. We found the bed very comfortable and blackout blinds (on switch by the bed) great. Shame however that we struggled with bright light around the door which we’ve never had in a hotel and a noisy fan kept trying to come on intermittently. We ate dinner in the restaurant overlooking the lake and probably the best fillet steak we’ve had with bearnaise sauce and a good sized portion. Unusually the barman had left by the time we had eaten which wasn’t late around 9pm. Breakfast was ok but poached eggs overcooked and bacon fatty. Overall staff were efficient but still appeared to be learning the ropes.

Visited with my father for his 75th birthday. Easy access to the best of the Lake District and would definitely stay again. Lovely time, beautiful hotel, and attentive, unpretentious staff. Massive thanks to Rob, who after we had checked out and driven off in our rental car came running down the road at a dead sprint - in pouring rain - lugging with him my dad's suitcase, which we'd left in the lobby. Rob saved our vacation. His heroics (!) were indicative of the care and kindness the staff showed us all the way through.

Super stay at the Langdale Chase. Fabulous location on the banks of Windermere. The staff are extremely friendly and provide a warm welcome and great service. Its well positioned for access to the beautiful villages snd towns of the South Lakes. Thank you Nicole and Philip Room 20.

The hotel is beautiful. The view is fantastic and the majority of the staff are polite and welcoming. On our visit some things fell short of the price point. There were a few requests that were forgotten. They seemed a few members of staff short, which is costing them breaches of five star standard. I’m giving our visit three stars because the food was not great. We had dinner on the first night, and again, for the price point well under our expectations. I’ve eaten a lot better in the Lakes for half the price. Breakfast - they cannot even poach an egg! All said, will I go back? Yes, but we will not eat in the hotel.

Having celebrated our '45th' Wedding Anniversary three days previously in Grasmere, we attended Langdale Chase Hotel for 'AfternoonTea', on the 29th April, to celebrate a '70th' Birthday! It was a beautiful sunny day, and the location, architecture and views were absolutely stunning! Thereby, followed, the most amazing 'Afternoon Tea', which also catered for one being a Coeliac! Special mention to 'Jungran' and indeed the 'Chef' for the relaxed presentation of their 'Swallows & Amazon' inspired theme! 'Jungran's' calm, informative and professional style was delivered to perfection! It was the most sublime and memorable ending to our celebratory week, which was quite simply, ... the icing on the cake!! Thank you. Richard & Vanessa

We attended the Langdale Chase for pre dinner drinks, we called first to check availability. We were greeted by a member of staff who was less than welcoming who stated they had limited availability, we then found a free table in the bar ourselves. We ordered drinks which were lovely and the view incredible We were not offered any nuts or nibbles with our drinks, all in all very disappointing. Which is such a shame- we had been considering langdale chase as a wedding venue for our daughters but on the basis of this visit have decided against.

A lot of effort behind the scenes has been put in for creating this afternoon tea credited to the book Swallows and Amazons . From sourcing the crockery and cake stands from local craftsman to the amazing food the chefs have produced. Unfortunately the service did not deliver the WOW factor as it lacked flow and interaction in selling a great story to go with the food. 10/10 for food and the view but service needs to be better and more attentive and sell that WOW factor

We had the wonderful afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. Just wonderful! The sandwiches were served with some warm snacks including a tiny piece of ham hock and Morecambe Bay potted shrimps served on a mini crumpet. It was an unusually warm day so the bread on the sandwiches became very slightly dry.. there was a nice break before we had the cakes but before that we had delicious freshly baked scone with jam and cream. Beautifully served.
