The Dower House Hotel

After a long hot journey, the last thing you need is to wait outside the reception room whilst guests and receptionist organise a room plan for an upcoming visit. In detail, backwards and forwards, whilst I stand outside listening to it all. No welcome, no acknowledgement. All it needed was to pause the room planning saga for 30 secs, the check in form handing over and a key. When I asked for this, the answer was a brusque “I’m busy with these guests”. In all other respects the Dower House hotel was excellent. The staff (bar one!) were great and super helpful. At dinner we asked for potatoes which weren’t on the menu and they were produced in no time. Food was delicious, rooms in the nearby annex were spacious, stylish and comfortable. This Edwardian building is a classic and been several times before. Its location overlooking the golf course is perfect for us. But Madam on reception needs to remember… you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Large comfortable room and bathroom. Staff professional and brilliant. One of the best dinners we’ve eaten in a long while. Excellent chef! Good wine list. Great location for exploring the area. Small things like a fridge & China mugs in the room and bigger TV would make a difference for a longer stay. But great hotel for one or two nights. Easy walk to village , Kinema in the woods and the Viking Way.

Me and my wife decided to book this venue for our wedding as we fell in love with this venue the moment we walked in about 2 years ago. This venue has everything and more anybody could wish for, the food is amazing, the area in itself is amazing, Max the wedding coordinator is by far the greatest person I have ever met. He made the last few days easy for me and my missus. His planning and organising skills are a cut above everything. But not just him his team who I dealt with most, starting with Jennifer she is a unique young women and has a lot to offer and she made every effort to make sure we were always happy and content, Ethan what a guy never once stood still door a lot of running for me and he never once complained. The energy they all had was crazy, give them all a big pay rise because without these people I don't think mine and my wife's wedding wouldn't have gone so smoothly without them. Diana I've saved you to last becuase from the moment we walked in nearly 2 years ago till now you always made effort to come speak to us and have a conversation and gace us some great advice along the way. Use people i mentioned will always hold a place in my heart, The rooms are beautiful always cleaned to high quality, and very spacious, This hotel is outstanding. Not one of my guest complained about anything and they are some picky people. Great service great people great atmosphere. Well done guys and thank you so much
