Fantastic little Inn. Stayed for one night between Lake District activities at honister and buttermere. Around a 30 minute drive from both. Across the road from bassenthwaite lake which was perfect to cool down in after an active day.
We stayed in room 25 which was delightful! Perfect for a family of four. Lovely little communal garden with a picnic bench. Easy parking. Staff lovely, and food was great! Will definitely return!

Perfect place to stay away from the norm !! Real oldy world pub and hotel . stunning little room however the shower didnt work . The bar area was really nice and had a loverly dinner with a couple of pints . never rushed and invited to stay after in another smaller bar. Breakfast was good, would love to return soon

Our stay at The Pheasant Inn, Bassenthwaite (Cockermouth, United Kingdom) was fantastic. The warmth, charm, and beauty of the Inn along with the welcoming staff made it a perfect overnight. The room was spacious and quaint with a lovely decor. Dinner was delicious and spending time in the pub was a great way to unwind after a day of travel. The Inn has a relationship with nearby Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa. What a gorgeous location! For a discounted fee you can access the spa, fitness center, and pool. Definitely a must! Thank you to Richard and James, two employees at The Inn that made our stay extra special.

It's over 30 years since we visited The Pheasant and things have changed tremendously. The room was clean and well decorated. The shower room was clean and large. The staff were pleasant, polite and welcoming. We got a good nights sleep on the comfy spacious bed. We had an excellent and relaxing impromptu visit and will definitely visit again. We would recommend this hotel.

Traditional old Cumbrian coaching inn brought up to date by the Inn Collection group whichever sympathetically restored it but retained some original features. The Inn has a beautifully maintained beer garden, perfect to enjoy a drink or coffees or to eat in. It is located just off the A66 between Keswick & Cockermouth at the foot of Sail fell and there and numerous walks from the door. The rooms have recently been refurbished in a modern country style and the bathrooms replaced with brand new, quality fittings. The service was spot on, we arrived early and the lovely lady on reception checked the room was ready & let us check in early. There was an extensive choice of food at both breakfast and dinner all cooked to perfection. We were made to feel welcome and comfortable from checking in to checking out & will definitely return soon. Can't recommend highly enough.

Had a pleasant evening dining in the pheasant. It’s my first time there since the takeover several years ago and it was a nice experience. The best part was the quality of the staff all kept busy and moving quickly all night. Food was good and really swift. Dogs are welcome and to my liking they are allowed in a separate area away from the likes of me that thinks they should be in a kennel not a restaurant. Will definitely return and it’s so close to home.

Stayed for the weekend and cannot fault the service and hospitality. We've been going for years for the food which has always been great but have noticed under new management a sustained improvement of quality and service of food. Loving the homemade pies, please keep them. Had a lovely weekend stay. The room was beautiful and a great en-suite. This place is set in beautiful grounds of the Lake District National Park. So sorry to be leaving but we'll definitely be back soon. A special mention to Stuart, Richard and the team. All the very best Ed and Vicky and of course Colin ❤️

We stayed one night on our way home from Scotland. The room looked lovely, but was directly above a kitchen extractor exhaust that was unbelievably loud — it ran late into the night and started up again at 6:45am, vibrating through the room and completely ruining any chance of proper rest. So bad luck if you get a room on this side I suppose. In the morning there was no running water due to a burst main (obviously not the hotel’s fault), but we only found out by overhearing staff. We couldn't shower before leaving. No explanation, no bottled water, and no compensation offered. Staff were friendly and food was fine, but overall a very disappointing and uncomfortable stay.
