I am a 74 year old solo traveller, and I had a terrible experience at the Florapark Hotel, this hotel is promoted as a 4 star hotel. I booked a full board + plus holiday! When booking the holiday the travel agent told me that the full board plus was soft drinks with my meals, this suited me just fine! On arrival none of the staff helped me with my luggage! I was slightly earlier arriving for 2pm check in and I was told that I could go and get lunch in the hotel restaurant.....I had to pay for my lunch and my soft drink, and this left me pretty baffled as I was there on a full board basis! I decided to ask the hotel manager (who was extremely cold & unwelcoming) what the full board plus entailed..... He told me that includes the use of the pool area, the restaurant, the gym! and all the hotels immensities! When I explained to him that I was told that the full board plus was all meals including sort drinks he dismissed the matter and point blank said that I would have to pay for any soft drinks, tea and coffee in the hotel! This hotel is promoted as a 4* star hotel but is more like a 2*star at a push! My bedding got changed once after I requested it be changed, my bedroom had many faults eg. Drawer cupboard bottoms sliding out! Door knobs hanging off, the hotel is badly needing a revamp, my balcony looked onto a wall, it was a terrible experience all around. The morning came to check out and the nightshift staff were prompting me to tip them, but they had done nothing for me, and when I said that I had no money left, they said well you go outside and wait, I felt again extremely disappointed, and once again I got dismissed from the staff...... My transfer arrived to take me to the airport and no one helped me with any of my luggage to the bus. This was my twelve time visiting Tunisia, I have always had a warm reception from the hotel staff, I have loved my holidays to Tunisia but my experience at the Florapark hotel was so sickening and disappointing that I'm not sure if I'll return.
