Tau Game Lodge

Our stay at Tao was perfect!! Might be cliche to say but it is not hyperbole! Silas, the ranger for ALL of my safari drives provided “wows” on each ride, be they roaring lions, elusive cheetahs, 30 elephants at a watering hole, or jackets moving in on a lion’s kill! The spa treatment was amazing. Ollie our bartender knew each of our drinks from the first day! Our chef, Tori, is a master of both game meats and American favorites! He was also SO accommodating of the dietary needs of both a 78 year old vegetarian and picking kids as young as 3. Aggy fattened us up with amazing deserts and Oli, George, and Tumi took amazing care of us!!

O hotel é sensacional. Nós escolhemos Madikwe pela diversidade de paisagens, reserva de elefantes e também por ser livre de malária. O Tau é um hotel 5 estrelas que tem o preço abaixo dos demais localizados na mesma região. Sinceramente, não perde em nada para os demais - todos os mimos de um hotel 5 estrelas você encontra aqui. Os carros do Safari tem mantas, bolsas de água quente para te ajudar na temperatura do inverno. No retorno ao hotel, toalhas umedecidas e quentes para higienizar as mãos e um shot de Amarula para finalizar o game drive. Comemos muito bem em todas as refeições. Café da manhã delicioso com tudo fresco, pães artesanais e opções para intolerâncias. O hotel tem uma localização privilegiada em frente a um lago na qual pode-se observar os animais indo e vindo o dia todo, apelidei de “vale encantado”. A nossa ranger era a Tanya e nós gostamos muito dela. Fizemos safáris incríveis com ela - inclusive, ela foi a responsável por encontrar uma mãe leoa com seus filhotes. Ela sempre movimentava o carro para termos todos os ângulos dos animais e as melhores fotos. Também encontrou hienas e cães selvagens. Nota mil! Talvez o único ponto de melhoria em relação ao hotel seria sobre os chuveiros externos - estava extremamente frio por isso não foi possível utilizá-los, tivemos que usar a banheira todos os dias e não gostamos muito dessa parte. De resto tudo excelente!

I did several game drives in national parks in Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa but my 3 days at Tau Lodge on the private game reserve was easily the best. The lodge/room was so beautiful and the game drives were phenomenal - we got incredibly close to the animals and the drivers had a very organized system to make sure each truck had a good viewing experience without being overwhelming to the guests or the animals. Every detail of the stay was perfect. I've recommended it without hesitation to so many people who have asked for safari suggestions. We recently stayed at Tau Game Lodge for a family holiday. We had a fantastic experience. we were welcomed by friendly staff and introduced to our lovely guide Lizzy. we saw the Big 5 and Magnificent 7 all up close and personal. i loved the position on the river watching animals come and go and our family chalet was on the water hole too. we had a big storm that filled up the river/watering hole and we saw even more animals wander down for a drink directly from our balcony. the food was amazing. We are both gluten-free, and the chefs made a huge effort to give us so many different choices. the wine list was great too. we were there for New Year's, and they threw a big surprise party. Highly recommend this experience.

Excellent service, attentive staff, best ranger we had (he looked after us very well), food & drink is very good snd sufficient. Very good massages at SPA. The lodge is a luxury class, but there are points deducted for location (garden design, pool design and bathroom. Improvements would be desirable here to justify the price.
