"Close to the train station. Although I got an upgrade to a double room, it was small (the table in front of the bed takes a lot of space). The bathroom was big and clean but outdated. The balcony was nice but not really needed in winter.
Everyone can enter the ski room and the individual locker cannot be locked. Perfect for thieves."
"A very pleasant hotel in Zermatt, very design, the front desk is very warm, take the initiative to take you to the room to introduce various facilities. There was a fog on the day of the trip, I didn't see the top of the mountain, but the snow that woke up the next morning made my son very happy. The breakfast was very rich and you could order a single egg and waffles or something. The room facilities were also very good, there was a small fireplace, and it was very warm in winter. There is an open-air pool on the first floor of the hotel, and the feeling of ice and fire is still very exciting. There is a hockey court at the door. The children are practicing hockey early in the morning. It is fun to watch it next to it."
"For a truly memorable stay in Zermatt, look no further than the Traditional Julen Hotel. We travelled throughout Switzerland, and the view from our Matterhorn room was hands down the best we experienced. Waking up to that iconic peak every morning was simply breathtaking.
The service at the Julen is impeccable. The staff is incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to meet every need we had, making us feel truly welcome. Speaking of needs, be sure to grab a bite at their downstairs restaurant. The food is excellent, though the space is a little on the cozy (some might say claustrophobic) side. Don't let that deter you, though - the culinary experience is well worth it.
Overall, the Traditional Julen Hotel is a fantastic choice. Splurge on the Matterhorn room for an unforgettable view, and rest assured knowing you'll be taken care of by a truly exceptional team. Highly recommended!"

"Hotel Bristol offers a unique blend of convenience and charm in Zermatt. Its prime location, just a short 7-10 minute walk from the main street, provides an unparalleled view of the Matterhorn at sunrise - a sight you can enjoy from the comfort of your warm bed. The hotel's cozy atmosphere, clean rooms, and friendly staff ensure a pleasant stay. Practical amenities like free shuttle service to and from the station add to the convenience. The breakfast buffet is a highlight, featuring a rich variety of choices and a delightful self-service egg and pancake station. While not directly on the main street, the slight distance offers a peaceful retreat without sacrificing accessibility to Zermatt's attractions."
"Perfect hotel. Thanks to Laginabel for providing us with perfect service and upgrading us to a large apartment with a view of the Matterhorn. Here is a summary of the hotel's features:
1. The hotel is very close to Zermatt Station and View Point. It is very convenient to walk there with a suitcase in about 5 minutes. The hotel also provides a free short-term bus (Zermatt's unique battery car).
2. The hotel itself has first-class facilities, especially the new building No. 3 where we stayed this time. The view is also perfect. You can see the view of the view point from the hotel balcony. The spa facilities are also brand new. There are two outdoor swimming pools, one with a higher water temperature and the other with a slightly lower temperature. Both have surfing and massage functions.
3. The hotel service is first-class. When we checked in, the front desk lady personally took us to the room and gave us a Rome tour. The breakfast is also the most abundant in this trip, with fresh smoked salmon sashimi, various hams, cold cuts, fruits and vegetables are all fresh, and there is homelet.
4. The free bus stop of Zermatt Town is right in front of the hotel, which can go anywhere, including Glacier Paradise, Five Lakes Cable Car Station and Negrat Line Train Station."
"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel! The excellent service rendered by the staff made our honeymoon much sweeter. Everyone was friendly, kind and always willing to help. Room was really nice and the extra sauna and open concept bathtub was a nice surprise! Breakfast spread was super delicious as well. Facilities like the wellness area include foot bath, infrared chairs, jacuzzi etc."
"The room is clean and sanitary, with a balcony where you can see the snow-capped mountains and watch the sunrise and sunset. You can store your luggage, the front desk staff is very friendly, and it is a good stay experience."
"Access from Zermatt station requires climbing a steep hill, so dragging a large suitcase was a bit of a challenge. The staff were kind and flexible with early morning check-out. The room was very spacious and clean, and the view from the balcony was amazing. The only amenities were body soap, but I brought my own shampoo and other items, so it wasn't a problem. The water pressure in the shower was also fine. I had a very comfortable stay. If I had more time, I would have liked to stay longer."
"The service here are the best. The staff are very lovely and super nice. The beds are very comfy. Very satisfied with this hotel. Would recommend this hotel if you’re looking for an accommodation in Zermatt."
"The staff are very friendly and will provide all kinds of assistance, including if you need transportation to the train station 2 minutes away :)
The location of this hotel is very convenient, right next to the train station, about 2 minutes' walk on a small road. There are co-op, McDonald's, etc. nearby, so you don't need to worry about eating. It is also very close to Station Street, where there are various clothing and accessories stores, which is also a good place for shopping.
As for getting to various attractions, it is also very convenient. Next to the hotel's alley exit is the station to Gornergrat and the bus stop to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. There is a small road behind the hotel, and you can reach the cable car station for Five Lakes Hiking in a few minutes after leaving.
Breakfast has many choices and tastes good.
This hotel has free SPA and Yoga courses, but I was in a hurry on this trip and didn’t try them.
It was a very good stay experience!"

Amazing
SStellakwansyStaying at this hotel in Zermatt was an unforgettable experience! The location is perfect—just 500 meters from the train station, making it incredibly convenient. The highlight of my stay was the warm hospitality from the owners, Thor and Michele. They personally served the buffet breakfast every morning, which was both delicious and thoughtfully prepared. On my first day, I unfortunately missed breakfast, but as I was heading out around 10:45 am, they surprised me by reserving some food for me to enjoy before leaving. It was such a thoughtful and touching gesture that truly made me feel cared for.
The room itself was immaculate and had everything I needed. The balcony offered a stunning mountain view, which was a perfect way to start and end each day. Thor and Michele went above and beyond to make me feel like a VIP throughout my stay. They remembered my name, attended to every need, and even took the time to explain the local attractions and recommend food options based on my preferences.
I feel incredibly lucky to have secured two nights at this gem of a hotel, especially since it’s almost always fully booked. This was one of the most personal and heartwarming stays I’ve ever had. If you’re visiting Zermatt, staying here is an absolute must. Thank you, Thor and Michele, for making my trip so memorable!
AAnonymous UserIt's easy to access from all stations in Chermatt, and the roads are simple. It's along the river, so if you get lost while walking around town, just follow the river and you'll find your way there.
The room had a beautiful, unobstructed view of the Matterhorn. It was amazing to see the mountain reddened by the morning sun as I woke up from my room.
The breakfast was simple, but the service was good, with the waitress offering hot tea and coffee. The bread was delicious.
There was a shared lounge in the room behind the front desk, and it had board games, books, and a coffee machine. It was open 24 hours a day.
GGuest UserThe Matterhornlodge is located about a 5-10 min walk from the Zermatt station.
We arrived at about 1pm and were informed that check-in was only at 2pm so we went for lunch and returned at around 2.30pm. We were greeted by Ruth, the proprietress of the hotel, who gave us a comprehensive briefing of the house rules and policies. Ruth was very warm, friendly, and charming; she was very guest-focused and was happy to find out more about where we were from and what we planned to do. Ruth even gave us recommendations for Bern when we told her we were going there next.
Although the hotel is stated to be 4 stars, we were very impressed by the room and the amenities. The bathroom came with a bidet and the toiletries provided were of good quality. The room was also very spacious with enough room to open up 2 luggage bags. The towels and robes were thick, warm, and fluffy.
The breakfast provided in the morning was also quite good with a decent selection of breads, cold cuts, cheese, and eggs.
At checkout, Ruth also gave us a complimentary ride to the train station in her electric vehicle.
All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay at the Matterhornlodge and we were very impressed by Ruth’s hospitality.
GGuest UserThe view from the room is very beautiful. You can see the Matterhorn. You can also see it from the restaurant. It is a very good view hotel. The food is average. We were very lucky to see the Matterhorn at different times. It is a different feeling to soak in the hot spring and see the Matterhorn. The hotel is located in a high mountain with an altitude of about 27,700 meters. People with altitude sickness should choose carefully. It is recommended that you contact the hotel in advance to help with the luggage after you get on the train to the station, because there is a hillside, and it is not convenient to carry a lot of luggage by yourself, especially when there is a lot of snow.
EElaineThis hotel is amazing, especially the location which is only 3 min walk from the Zermatt Station. It’s also very closed to the main street, supermarket amd restaurants. The room is spacious and we were so lucky to see the sunrise view of Matterhorn due to the good weather. Highly recommended to friends and families who would like to visit Zermatt.
GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the best location walkable from the Zermatt main station easy to find food and drinks, close to coop and the hotel have nice terrace in front that u can sit for people watching our room had nice view of
matterhorn comfortable bed. With moon roof
GGuest UserStayed in a 8 bed dorm which was different to other bunk bed type dorms. The beds were all abutting each other. Had the room been full then it may have been interesting, View from bedroom window downstairs was sublime. Breakfast was very good. Oh and I couldn't work lockers out. Overall though I enjoyed my stay.
GGuest UserExcellent location, 5-10min walk from the train station. Near to both Coop and Migros. Room was cosy and clean but mattress/bed will need upgrading. It's too soft and will sink in when sleep on.
Check in counter is in another hotel a few steps away. Will be great if guests can be informed prior.
There's a small lift in the hotel, good for those with heavy luggages!
GGuest UserThe experience is good, the room is clean and new. There is a coffee machine, which is free of charge for the people living. Hot water also provided 24/7. The location is a bit far comparing with the other hotel, and it is close to the river, it is a bit noise in the summer time as the heavy flow of the river. But I will still recommend it to my friend if they want a budget choice in Zermatt.
GGuest user123Initially I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel based on reviews but it was a good stay!! Great value for Zermatt! Walking distance about 10 mins from Zermatt station, on shopping street. Toilets and stairway up a bit small but ok for us. Luckily we were located on first floor so didn’t have to climb up too many stairs with our luggage. There’s a pizzeria below. Things to note: didn’t see a bin ( only a small one in toilet) so maybe bring your own plastic bag for a bin as well as room slippers.
Place was clean! However there’s some loud music that played even in the wee hours of the night like 3am, so if you are a light sleeper, you might need to put on some ear plugs to muffle the noise out. Nonetheless, A huge thank you for the stay. Convenient, Breakfast was awesome, simple spread but very heartwarming and the coffee was the most delicious I’ve had. It was the Easter weekend so there’s pretty Easter eggs for breakfast too! The lady owner was lovely and check in and check out was very easy and seamless. We stayed for a night and would recommend this place.
