A City on Water

We spent a day in the beautiful, historic, and romantic city of Venice. Despite being a cluster of over a hundred small islands, Venice is easy to get to - we took a bus from the mainland. The best way to explore Venice is on foot, and we joined a walking tour with a local guide who took us around the northern part of Venice. She explained a lot of interesting history about the foundation of the city, the expansion and decline of the Venetian Empire, the brotherhoods that once were present here, and the symbolism behind some statues. She also discussed the current threats of floods that the city faces. #italy #venice

Go to the Ghetto which in March was very easy to Accra and away from many of the tourists. The Rialto area is great to experience and there are many great Cicceterias. 🏖️ Must-Visit Attractions Basilica San Marco, Campanile San Marco, Academie Musuem 🚇 Transportation From the airport get the Vaporetto to the city of Venice. It is excellent value, currently €15 one way per person, and this takes you to a number of spots in the city. You can access all manner of places from there using the Blue or Orange line. 📷 Photo Spots 🍜 Local Cuisine Al Novo, Osteria alle Testiere to follow in Stanley Tucci’s footsteps, any of the cicceteria’s, 🏠 Accommodation For somewhere quiet to stay we chose the Castello area. A Day In Venice! 🛶

A Day in Venice is a day to remember! The buzzing streets, Boat rides in Gandola & canals going through beautiful architectures make Venice a lustful destination for tourists! First thing about Venice I must say is it’s very crowded. Especially in the summer. The streets are buzzing with tourists and vendors. So I would suggest to get out as early in the morning as possible. The pictures taken here are rare examples of quiet Venice in early hours. #foodie Get out early, have a good walk around, go for a lunch and finish your day with a spectacular sunset! #passionpassport #staycation #gooutside

I advise you to take the package at the airport with transportation and museum entries. walking on the island is easy. everything's close by. We had hard time to find real and good Italian food though. There is a good ice-cream shop on Murano Island. It's a place that worth to stay more than just a week end. There is soooo much history. I only stood 2 days for the Bienale and am frustrated. Beware of the museums opening hours because there is a lot of queue and they mostly close around 4.30pm. So you should start your day with them. The sound of Gongdola's oar cutting through the water is somewhat low in the narrow river channel. If accompanied by the sound of an accordion and the singing of the boatman, it would be the most beautiful sound in the world, and the rippling water would be the dream of the people living by the river. However, the perennial flooding is eroding Venice, and currently the ground is sinking 0.5 centimeters per year. Coupled with the rising sea levels caused by global warming, if not rescued, Venice is expected to be submerged by seawater soon. At that time, the gondolas here, the film festival here, the opera house here, and the delicious ice cream here will all become memories.

Burano is quieter than Venice, and most tourists from Venice spend half a day to a day here: a really recommendable visit. Burano is an island in the Lagoon of Venice. It is located to the north of Venice, very near Torcello, and is famous for its lacemaking.
