Amazing well-located hotel that exudes the old world charm. Fascinating story about how it started (It was built for passengers of the Orient Express in 1925), Well appointed room with good facilities and a nice selection of TV channels globally. It features several fine-dining restaurant and bistro. One day we had breakfast at Le Bistro before leaving for the airport. It took one of the dishes a bit longer to come in and unexpectedly the restaurant waived the bill for us. It’s a very thoughtful gesture.
We booked a room with a sofa bed for two adults and one child. The sofa bed was uncomfortable, with a sunken center and raised ends. The child's back was good enough to sleep on it, but the adult's was not. The room was quite big, the decoration was neither old nor new, the food in the restaurant was OK, but the service was very good, they would ask questions proactively, so we specially consumed a dinner in the evening, but we waited for 40.50 minutes before it was served. When it was served, we found that the price of the Tomahawk steak was per 100 grams, and ours was 120kg. No wonder the waiter kept saying it was very big. We confirmed it again and again, and the steak alone cost 200 euros. Fortunately, the taste was very good. We couldn't finish it and packed it up to eat it again with instant noodles the next day.

The hostel is very clean and conveniently located, yes!
Would I return there? Not sure. This is due to lack of amenities that I have never seen missing from other hostels:
- 1 bathroom per floor, the bathroom is shared between 3 rooms of 4; 12 people at 1 bathroom is a bad idea.
- sockets, sockets, sockets. The beds does not have a socket, there are 2 of them randomly located in the room but other hostels I have been in had bed and own socket which should be standard.
- no curtains for the beds, no privacy
- no light in the bed, like a small lamp that everyone can use if others are sleeping.
Clean hostel but the lack of these amenities is disappointing.
The location is convenient, very close to the bus station, and convenient to the airport. The room is clean and the breakfast is rich. It is the first choice for business trips. The price is moderate. I will come again next time I go on a business trip. The cost performance is relatively high.
This hotel has several issues that affected my stay.
First, the lighting design is poor—there’s a harsh spotlight in front of the TV that is uncomfortable, yet turning it off makes the room too dark, leaving no good lighting options.
Second, the air quality is concerning. The room has visible dust floating in the air, especially under the lights, and there’s no ventilation since the windows can’t be opened. This made the room feel stuffy and uncomfortable, especially for those sensitive to air quality.
Noise pollution is another major problem. The poor soundproofing allows outside noise and hallway sounds to be clearly heard, disturbing sleep. Additionally, the duvet is unusually heavy, which may not be comfortable for all guests.
After just one night, my friend developed allergy symptoms and caught a cold, while I experienced headaches, throat discomfort, nasal congestion, and dry eyes—possibly due to the dust and poor air circulation. While the hotel looks good in photos, the actual experience was disappointing. I hope they improve air quality, cleanliness, and noise control to provide a more comfortable stay.
This hotel is cost-effective. It’s just that it took a while to change the hotel. Dry cleaning is cheaper. You can drop it off in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. The breakfast is average, and there is always bread and milk.

I recently stayed at the Sheraton in Zagreb and found the experience to be quite average. While the staff were friendly, the accommodations were disappointing, especially for a hotel rated 5 stars—it had more of a 3-star look and feel.
The lack of windows made the rooms feel stuffy, and the carpet was noticeably dirty. The bathroom was small, the TV was outdated and small, and not all channels worked. The rooms overall felt old and in need of renovation, which was a stark contrast to the beautifully renovated front desk area downstairs. The bright, modern lobby clashed with the dark, outdated corridors and old rooms, leaving much to be desired.
I had hoped for better given the brand's reputation. While the service was good, the overall accommodations did not live up to the rating or expectations.

The first night we arrived in Croatia, our first stay was smooth and pleasant, but when we went back to stay again a month later, our stay was cancelled. The excuse was that the system was wrong, but it was probably because the hotel was not authentic and oversold. When problems occurred, Ctrip was still very helpful. Responded to the problem in a timely manner and handled it proactively. The female customer service who contacted us was sincere, patient, professional and efficient 👍. The handling result was still satisfactory. In the future, I will be more confident to use Ctrip as the main platform for domestic and foreign travel.

The newly opened hotel in 2023 has an excellent location. There are pedestrian streets and squares nearby, which is very convenient for sightseeing, eating and shopping. It should be a renovation of an old house. The room is slightly smaller, but the layout and decoration are quite ingenious. Although there are no side windows on the 5th floor, it is very clever to make a skylight. The sunshades inside and outside can be opened by remote control, which gives it the charm of being in a historical building. The comfort of the toilet is No. 1 in the half-month trip to Croatia, although it is not a smart toilet. The lighting design is reasonable, and my friend also planted its coffee machine. There are welcome drinks or dry white at the front desk, and two large bottles of water are sent to the room. Breakfast is buffet and menu.
Swimming pool and sauna are free to use.

EEll-AnneClose to the bus station and great staff. We arrived early for check in and they gave us an available room as we were tired from our journey and the hotel wasn’t fully booked. Good breakfast too. We enjoyed our time in Croatia.

GGuest UserThis wonderful hotel is right in the center of old Zagreb. Everything is within walking distance.....restaurants abound, flower market and food markets, shops, the trolley for transportation is close by, and many museums, churches, government buildings, parks and Historic sites. The Hotel Dubrovnik is clean, light rooms, comfy beds, and a sumptuous breakfast! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
柳柳純一From Zagreb station, take the tram 2 or 6 and the stop is not painful if you get off at the Zagreb bus station.
This is good if you want to take advantage of the Zagreb bus station. There is no breakfast (you can procure it because there is a 24-hour bakery at the bus station), but you can substitute it because there is a kettle and a pack of tea and coffee and sticks. Instant soup and cup noodles are also good at the supermarket.
Wi-Fi is strong and stress-free.
There is air conditioning so you can deal with the heat of summer or off-season.
The facilities are brand new so you can spend very cozy.
LLinaFirst things I like to express my appreciation to Toni at front desk who's very friendly welcoming my first day check in and helping me when I have problem with rental car. He really put his effort making so many calls when the rental car didn't response well, but finally all problem solved. And he sent his regard throe his friend at front desk on my second check in after 7 days traveling to Split and Dubrovnik, his name also Tony and he also very friendly.
Thanks to both of you Toni & Tony ( I hope I didn't wrong spelling your name )
It's highly recommend for all type of traveler, the room is very quite, I can't hear anything from next room or outside, sleep like a baby. I love the spacious shower room and all luxury amenities. If not mistaken I think this is a brand new hotel.
Since i drive a car, for me location is not important, 8 minutes drive to the old town, not too far. I like the neighborhood is so quite.
Breakfast has many menus and tasty too.
Overall is perfect , one thing I don't like is the dimming lights.
If they have a brighter light, I will be so happy.

BBartek W. SowińskiBittersweet stay at Speeka. Bad weather first 2 days and few mayor sites still closed due to earthquake in 2020. Hostel is located at 3-lanes main street so prepare for the traffic almost 24/7. Windows are old so don't stop the noise. 1st two nights I slept in room number 9 and there were two other cranky beds making so much noise with every move made. Then I moved to nr 6 and it was much better.
Staying there you need to be also prepared for coffee, tea and hot water shortages. And those shabby walls make an impression that the owner doesn't want to invest too much in renovation. Good thing is that hostel is in walking distance from the old town and everything is actually very closed.
People are nice and helpful, thanks to the lady at the reception I managed to print a ticket for 2Cellos - without it I wouldn't enter cause they don't have scanners to read a ticket on smartphone screen. But the concert itself was also sad, maybe cause of those strings sound. I don't know what happened but most likely will visit Zagreb in a few years again and stay at some better place.
GGuest UserI recommend this hotel as it is very well placed to wander around Zagreb. It is clean, very good breakfast and the staff not just friendly but very helpful. When you have had a wonderful holiday it is always easy to write a good review but my review is based upon yes a lovely holiday but it had to be cut short by five days - I got quite ill and had to return to London. The response by staff could not have been better or more kind. Not only did they help me get organised to leave but they also waived the cost of the 5 days. They did not have to do this but chose to help and support me. So I cannot speak more highly of this Hotel and its staff. And thank them so very much for making this difficult time more manageable fr me. So this review in not simple about the physical attributes of this very well placed hotel but evolves from the leadership and priorities of the Hotel and staff to fundamentally serve its customers. Many thanks
