A beautiful beachfront hotel that is perfect for romantic getaways and a cheaper alternative, yet still luxury, to standard 5 star hotels. Location wise the hotel isn’t great as it’s very remote from the strip/city centre and taxi prices are not particularly cheap in Madeira. The rooms are spacious and stunning, well worth it with a great selection for the breakfast buffet and plenty of restaurants/options for dinner. A lovely love band/musician plays every night which is also great. Overall a wonderful stay with much friendly staff, however if you are looking to do much sightseeing in Madeira, this hotel is not the best option unless a significant amount is left for travel.
Really enjoyed our stay. Receptionists were helpful and polite. The rooms were a good size and cleanliness was excellent. Great to have a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Would definitely recommend the terrace restaurant, the food was excellent. zi tried the Tuna poke bowl which was very tasty.
Very nice hotel. Excellent value for money. The location is very good and the transportation is convenient. It only takes 3 minutes to walk from the airport bus. Clean and good service. The front desk staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast was also great. Really recommend recommend recommend.
The location is very good, next to the natural swimming pool, breakfast is available in the sister hotel next to and the view of the rooftop restaurant is very good. We can also use sauna and swimming pool in all three hotels. The staff is very friendly and has provided us a satisfactory room. We also received gifts for Christmas.
Unprecedented choice for breakfast!!!
Some guests did not clean up their plastic cups and containers themselves; the wind would cause them to fall to the floor and it sometimes did not seem so clean. Hotel staff does try to clean up quickly.
Location was good as is just a 10 min walk to downtown. As a frequent traveler, I don't consider the hotel 5-star rated hotel. It's ok for a 4-star, but not 5. Doesn't meet a 5-star standard in several things. For example, if you are driving, parking is a little bit an hassle as you have to change from one building to another. Breakfast was good but not 5-star breakfast. Lack of warm breakfast dishes and pastries. Windows in the room not sound proof. Woke up severals times during night time as you could hear the noise from the Garbage truck. When you take a shower, leaks water towards the hand sink area. Pillows, not match a 5-star standard either. Was ok, but not great!
I arrived early in the morning and they had already a lot of room ready, have private parking that is very grateful in that area, as it is usually quite full of cars by the beach. The hotel was very comfortable and clean, had a gym, a terrace on the deck and on the floor 0 sauna, hammam and pool, I thought a little curiosity that was near the reception, but there was just noticed the entrance of other guests. The room was very comfortable and the room was very comfortable.
The location in front of the beach is perfect for sunset.
El hotel es impresionante… los alrededores con los jardines, casa del te, el spa y la piscina…. Todo es realmente increíble. Una pena haber pasado allí solo una noche… el desayuno en el jardín es todo un lujo… nos ha gustado todo!!!!
Awesome little town and best hotel in the area I can find! Very comfortable and helpful staff! Shame I didn’t have time to try their Turkish bath room! Breakfast was a spread! And easily walkable downhill and back up (about 2 miles) to the beach restaurants of São Vicente
This was a very decent and affordable hotel — nothing fancy or luxurious, but it covers the basics quite well. It’s clean, efficient, and does the job for travelers looking for a simple place to stay. One of the best surprises was that if you’re lucky enough to get a room with ocean views, it really adds a lot of value to the overall experience.
That said, there were some clear drawbacks. The room itself felt extremely tight, especially for two people with a couple of suitcases. There was very limited space to move around, which made things feel a bit cramped and uncomfortable. The bathroom was also quite small, and while functional, it lacked the comfort you’d hope for in a multi-day stay.
One highlight was the balcony. Though the interior space was tight, the room had a good-sized balcony where we enjoyed golden hour and sunset views — that part was genuinely lovely and added a sense of openness and relaxation we didn’t get inside the room.
The most significant downside for me was the parking situation. The hotel only has three official parking spots, which are always full. Given the area is busy and surrounded by in-demand places like grocery stores, cafés, restaurants, and a laundromat, street parking is very limited and expensive. I had to park at a nearby garage, which cost 10 euros overnight.
As for the rooftop, the amenities there weren’t particularly impressive — nothing that would stand out compared to more upscale hotels. But once again, the ocean and sunset views from the rooftop are stunning and give you a brief illusion of being at a five-star resort.
All in all, this hotel offers good value for money, especially if you’re not planning to spend too much time in the room. It’s a solid base for exploring the area, as long as you’re okay with a few compromises in comfort and convenience.

GGuest UserI have visited this hotel before the recent renovation and would like to know about these changes. I am very surprised! I really like the open concept of front desk, bar, restaurant and its decoration. I emphasized the changes made to the room: decoration, comfort and extra facilities (tea, coffee, champagne and minibar). I like the swimming pool built on the terrace and surrounding area. The breakfast is great and I like the idea of the dinner menu. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Congratulations! ! ! 💖

MMuhammadOne of the main reason why I booked this 4 star hotel was that it said it had a large space gym area as mentioned before booking, so I assumed it being a 4 start Hotel it will have decent weights and machines. However, when I arrived, the gym didn’t have a pull-up bar or a cable machine, the dumbbell weights were very basic that went up to only 10 kg. That is absolutely disappointing considering this was a 4 start Hotel. To be honest the multiuse cable machine is pretty much all you need as it has everything to be exercise all your body parts! I love my pullups hence I had to find a way to do them so I found a metal gate just outside the gym in the tennis court believe it or not I used the gate frame to do my pullups (see picture). Another downfall is that it didn’t have a water fountain in the gym area. You had to go up to the reception and buy bottle of water for €2. Good luck to those who suffer from quick dehydration.
I expected the room to have a kettle which you wouldn’t think twice whether it will have it or not. But guess what? You have to pay extra to have a kettle in your room during your stay between €5 to €7. That’s just jokes, I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry!
Other than that, the staff were very friendly and the location is close to the sea, and approximately 11 minutes drive to the main city area in Funchal.
I’d say the breakfast is good, but the same time pretty standard what you would get in a 3 star hotel. I was expecting better variety. The breakfast is always the same every day. Hardly never changes. However, the dinner menu has a rotation.
Overall, I would give this place 3.5 out of 5!
I hope they can accommodate the above the next time I visit.
FFaroSandraNice hotel that lived up to expectations.
Excellent location in Calheta, right on a golden sand beach, with direct access from the hotel. It is ideal to have a car as it is 30 minutes from Funchal.
It's worth paying extra to have a room with a sea view
The quality and quantity of the food complies with the all-inclusive package, as do the drinks.
Daily and varied entertainment.
Good spa with heated pool, Turkish bath, sauna and cold showers.
Very pleasant outdoor pool area, with plenty of sun loungers and well designed.
Free ping pong, paid billiards (€3/hour).
Very good price/quality ratio.
EElias KletterGreat big hotel. Lots of German pensioners. Very good location - on the ocean, next to a large shopping center Forum and Formosa beach. Bus 1 or 2 takes you to the center of Funchal in 12 minutes.
Breakfast is very varied, but queues for coffee after 8 am. Pass on the floor with stunning ocean views, you can sit outside.
Didn't like the pools - with a beautiful view, but shallow, waist-deep water everywhere. Only for children. Air conditioning only works for cooling - it was cold in the room.
GGuest UserA bit far from the center. But good cleaning. Very varied breakfast. Pool and jacuzzi that comes in handy when you return from excursions.
The views from the terraces are spectacular, especially at night.
buses very close
GGuest UserGreat location relative to Funchal. Great room, a bit old-fashioned. Because we had been here before, we saw that the hotel had been refurbished, but it did not really have a nice atmosphere. The carpeting has been replaced by cold canvas. White light everywhere, also in the rooms, it lacks atmosphere. Breakfast is the same every morning, as are the staff, they are busy with each other instead of with guests.
There is often a sewer smell around the hotel.
We were charmed by the location and the view, otherwise it leaves something to be desired.
