The fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou in Ouarzazate Governorate has attracted tourists from 80 countries and regions around the world since 1956 due to its unique landform. Various well-known film crews have also come here. The Source City in the American TV series "Game of Thrones" originated from the fortified village, which Game of Thrones fans should not miss. This village was originally an important stopover for Arabs on their winter and summer journeys in the desert. Ivory, gold, slaves, and spices from the heart of Africa passed through here through the High Atlas Pass and into Marrakech in the north. The architectural style of the houses here, which are built in steps, has the function of military defense. The location close to the mountains and water is also excellent. It was named a World Cultural Heritage in 1987.
