Perched dramatically on a steep cliff in the Pontic Mountains near Trabzon, it offers not only rich history but also stunning natural beauty. The monastery was founded in the 4th century and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Its location, built into the rock face at around 1,200 meters above sea level, makes the visit truly unforgettable. The architecture is impressive, with beautiful frescoes, chapels, and rock-hewn rooms.
