Conquering the Great Wall of China!

A review of the adventure to the Great Wall at Badaling (八达岭长城) – one of the seven wonders of the world that you must see at least once in your lifetime! During my trip to Beijing, the destination I was most excited about was the "Great Wall of China," particularly the "Badaling section" or "Bādálǐng (八达岭)," which is one of the most popular and well-preserved parts of the wall. Badaling is located about 70 kilometers from downtown Beijing, and getting there is quite convenient with options like high-speed trains and buses. I chose to take the S2 train from Huangtudian Station, which took about an hour. Upon arriving at Badaling Station, you can either walk or take a shuttle to the entrance of the wall. Standing on the Great Wall itself was an awe-inspiring experience. The massive stone structure stretches endlessly along the mountain ridges, surrounded by breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains that look like a painting. Walking up the wall is quite steep and requires some effort, but with every step higher, the views become even more stunning. The most popular spot is Tower 8, which offers the best panoramic views. I stopped to take photos multiple times because the scenery along the way was simply incredible, especially when looking back at the winding wall snaking through the mountains. It’s easy to understand why this construction is one of the seven wonders of the world. For those planning to visit, I recommend wearing comfortable sneakers suitable for climbing to prevent slipping and bringing water, as prices at the shops along the way can be quite high. The Great Wall at Badaling is not just a beautiful check-in spot but also a testament to the grandeur of history and ancient Chinese ingenuity. It’s an experience I will truly never forget.
